It is a prestigious and fashionable to be a scientist in our time. This opinion was expressed Polytechnic Lyceum “NTUU Igor Sikorsky KPI” - the institution, which activates and supports the research activities of their students, promotes their abilities. Lyceum students not only violate the current issues, but also find practical application for their inventions. Subject Olympiads, scientific and technical exhibitions, festivals, competitions allow to demonstrate their skills, but special attention paid to high school competition, which this year took place on 11-14 October in the festival of innovative projects "Sikorsky Challenge". Competition of scientific and technical creativity of pupils' Intel-Techno Ukraine "- is the national stage of the the international competition of scientific and technical creativity of schoolchildren Intel ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair). Exactly this competition, held at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" provides a unique opportunity to competitors except professional jury evaluation of their projects, get more grants for their implementation, and the winners will present their projects at the World final scientific Intel ISEF technical projects in the USA.
Out of 10 projects that reached the Super Final of the competition - two students from Polytechnic Lyceum “NTUU Igor Sikorsky KPI” presented it. This project by lyceum student of 11th form Karina Semenko on the topic of "Converting electricity lightning induction method for use" and the project by lyceum students of the 10th form Eva Potoki, Alisa Koval and Olexiy Chaly on the topic of "The glasses with the ability to change the diopters".
A look into history
The competition "Intel-Techno Ukraine" is already the eighth time in Ukraine. Among the first participants - Volodymyr and Mykhaylovsky and Kyrylo Boronov who later became students of National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". Every year was increasing the number of participants. Last year, the individual and collective projects were added: the competition was attended by 18 high school pupils of our school. They presented 11 projects, of which 10 were the winners.
This year, at the discretion of the jury 36 our members have presented 17 projects. Twenty-twolyceum students, who presented 11 projects were winners. They took third place in the category "Computer Science" (project "Home to go"), third and two fourth places in the category "Robotics and Intelligent Machines" (the "Intelligent System Safe House","Portable device paging" "Wireless computer management"), second - in the category of "Physics and Astronomy", second and fourth in the category "Energy", the second, third and two fourth category "Engineering" (projects "System inductive power transportation routes of cities and their agglomerations", "Glasses with the ability to change diopters","Okey, chess").
Collaboration with scientists of KPI
Lyceum is a subdivision of NTUU "Igor Sikorsky KPI" and in the process of preparation for lyceum students guided by requirements that the university proposes to its students. Therefore, scientists, teachers and university staff provide necessary assistance for the realization of scientific ideas of students. Thus, for many years PTI takes care of our gifted youth of lyceum students. The largest number of projects in this year's competition presented lyceum students of 10-11-form of direction "Information Technology". Under the guidance of the teacher of computer science, Lyudmila Viktorovna Bulygina, who works at the Department of Information Security of PTI, they covered categories of engineering, computer science, robotics and intelligent machines.
Out lyceum students are happy to develop its projects in cryogenics Laboratory of Physics and Mathematics. Under the guidance of assistant professor, Ph.D. Michael Grygorovych Lysenko, leading engineers of the Department Oleg Vladimirovich Kozlenko and Viktor Volodymyrovycha Gavryliuk was made projects of winners of the competition of scientific and technical creativity Vladimir Mikhailovsky (in August 2012 at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics received HonourableMention), Tamila Krashtan, Daryna Kovaleva, Anastasia Babenko, Vyacheslav Tsurkan, Anastasia Shapovalova, Dmitry Obozny, Darya Dyachkova and others. Teaching supervisor of works was senior lecturer Tatiana G. Chyzhska and Olexiy V. Matviychuk and teachers of the lyceum and Tetyana A. Suvorova and Svitlana S. Lysenko. But this year, all four projects on which lyceum students worked on base of laboratory were the winners. These projects by Karina Semenko, Mykola Melnyk, Vladislav Neskorodov and Sofia Lazarova.
With the help of PhD, Professor, Honored inventor of Ukraine Igor O. Mikulonka and cryogenics lab our lyceum students are obtaining patents and utility models, indicating a high level of work prepared.
Projects-prizewinners of this year's competition
Second place in the category of "Physics and Astronomy" received the project made by 11-form student Vladyslav Neskorodov. Second place in the category of "Physics and Astronomy" receives project by student of 11th form Vladislav Neskorodov "Contactless extinguishing of fires and fire prevention centers via high-voltage electrostatic field". The work’s supervisor Oleh Kozlenko says: “The relevance of the idea stems from the today’s problems. All of us remember the fire that broke out on tank farms "BRSM-Nafta" in June 2015. Suppressed by foam used almost all reservoirs. It turned out very expensive. Then we started to think what variants might be possible. Mentioned of liquid nitrogen, which could displace oxygen and burning process was stopped. Another option - ionization. After a number of experiments have obtained for a patent".
The project by Mykola Melnyk "Shock-absorber and generator of electric current for electric vehicles" took second place in the category of "Engineering." It is focused at finding additional energy for electric vehicles, which are now becoming increasingly popular.
The project by Sofia Lazarova "Improving the properties of the solar battery made of radioactive waste" took fourth place in the category "Energy". It is offered to improve solar battery by crystals removed from transistors that would simply utilized.
Very interesting work has Karina Semenko "Converting electricity lightning induction method for future use," which took second place in the category of "Energy". In this work the lightning is researched as additional source of energy. While working two unsuccessful experiments did not stop the researcher. And today Karina has applied for several patents.
Partisipants’ impressions
Eva Potoki, 10th form: This contest brought many changes in my life. I got a great experience and a lot of emotion. Competition added me confidence, helped to achieve my potential. I really wanted to implement their ideas and not listening to the advice of friends - to leave all this and do something "more important". In preparation for the competition and during the presentation of the project I was able to communicate with reputable people who were interested in our project team, wanted to help us, and now I understand what I missed this - the interest and attention.
Anatoly Sanzharovskyi, 11th form: For the second year I participate in this competition. Last year - in the category "Computer Science", in this - "Robotics and Intelligent Machines". Preparing for the competition is always intensify research activities and raises questions over the choice of the theme of the project. Our supervisor L.V.Bulyhina helps to decide on this, and advises on that better pay attention to what projects will cause more interest. This year we felt that our teachers and other support us with understanding attitude to our competitive admissions lessons for days and helped with printing posters.
I am pleased by the number of prizes, which took my friends, but especially that Karina has become superfinalist. Was grieved for those who did not receive awards.
During the contest we actively communicate with each other and jury. This helped to determine in which direction we should continue to work on his project and what to look for when preparing for the competition of the Small Academy of Sciences. Already planning that the project will prepare for the next contest.
Karina Semenko – 11th form: IntelTehno - one of the most atmospheric competitions.
Last year my class participated in many competitions, including the Intel-Techno in 2015. It was our first contest, where we tried to show their projects done quickly. Competition where the jury not only professors, academics, scientists, and students of different courses. The jury can tactfully draw attention to problems in the way that the participant does not upset and solving the problem or considering the observations continued to develop the project further. There have been international jury, defense projects to which must be English, which concerned members or not most, but after the master class, held after the opening of the first day of the competition, we were slightly reassured to learn that the main thing - to convey the idea of the project, the main aspects and be able to answer the standard questions in English.
Best of all - it's the atmosphere, which is under the competition. New opportunities for meeting peers from all over Ukraine, every eye shine of what is done, the number of participants and more. And organizers always there to help fix any problems.
After the competition and the awarding we are more confident in themselves and that to create something new and useful to us in power, it would wish. Congratulations to the winners receiving prizes for I-IV places little are sad to those who go home without a prize. But as it turned out - this is just an incentive to improve their project, and next year to show better results.
Compared to last year, when I had the IV place this year I went to the Super Final. While working on his project for a year, I participated in many competitions, but none of them combines many features. The third day of competition - open day. This is another opportunity for students - from kids to students - come to look at other projects. And if the project is interesting, maybe it will inspire someone with new ideas and discoveries - and the next year the competition for a project will be more. Most of the participants this year were on our Polytechnic Lyceum, and all that "the possibility cannot lose, otherwise they will lose you."
Coaches about the competition
Director of the Polytechnic Lyceum “NTUU Igor Sikorsky KPI” Yuri Kyrychkov appreciates the interest of the University in training talented youth based on their chairs: "It is very true that KPI is engaged in the development of youth, because it makes it possible to teach students and show no retrospective and the prospect of scientific development, to join this process."
Immediately after the contest Lyudmila V. Bulygin, professor of computer science lyceum, which constantly emphasizes how much she was lucky to teach such a talented children at social networks welcomed and supported by all participants: "The competition finished. Who he was the first who have the second one received prizes, and someone - no one believes fair result, and - on the contrary, so:
- Situations in life are divided into pleasant and helpful. Define your own.
- In the first version be glad and continue to work. The second – be a little bit sad and do the same. But in any - make a clear analysis and conclusions.
The algorithm is working and linear.
Thank you very much for that and 11 th, and 10 become teams more (ideally, one would like!) And the atmosphere begins to create "by itself". This interaction, support and a sense of unity. In life, you will have many projects but want to project "Polytechnic Lyceum “NTUU Igor Sikosrky KPI” has become our pride.
Thank you again to all who participated in the competition who supported who got behind. It is important. We move on."
