April 14 prominent politician and public figure, deputy of Ukraine of several convocations, Minister of Environmental Protection and Nuclear Safety of Ukraine in 1992 – 1998 years, scientist Yuriy Kostenko read for students of power specialties of KPI lecture on "History of Ukraine of nuclear disarmament."
He spoke detail with reference to specific documents and statistics about the historical circumstances in which the decision to refuse our state of nuclear weapons was taken and described the process of elimination.
In his report, or, as Yuriy Kostenko said, stories, he also touched on the causes of the Chernobyl disaster and on minimizing its effects. In addition, he spoke about the current state consolidated 30 years ago over the destroyed fourth reactor sarcophagus, and the features currently under construction confinement. Of course, the prospects of nuclear energy were discussed too.
"I would advise you to be attentive to what is going on in your large family, which includes what is called a Ukrainian state - he turned the end of his speech to the audience. - Do not be indifferent! For not come from abroad, prime minister, president or parliament, and will not make for us a happy Ukraine. That you have to do ... and do it effectively you can only when you have on the one hand knowledge, profession and from other – Ukrainian- heart. This is also what will bring Ukraine with all crises and bring it to Europe. And Europe will be here, not just in Brussels, Paris or London! ".
