The XVI international theoretical and practical conference "Renewable energy and energy efficiency in the XXI century" has been started to work on May 28th in NTUU "KPI".
It was organized by the representative Office of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kyiv, National technical university of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute", Institute of renewable energy of NAS of Ukraine, ISTC wind energy of NAS of Ukraine, UNESCO Chair "Higher technical education, applied system analysis and Informatics at NTUU "KPI" and ESC "Institute for applied system analysis". The conference is organized under the patronage of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine Henryk Litwin.
“It is symbolic to some extent that this conference is being held at the KPI, because the first studies in the field of renewable energy have been stared almost forty years ago on the initiative of the then well-respected rector Grigory Ivanovich Denisenko. A team of enthusiasts formed by him held a series of pioneer for the period work in this area, - pro-rector of NTUU "KPI" on scientific work, academician of NAS of Ukraine Mikhail Ilchenko noted in his welcoming speech to the participants of the conference. - The relevance of research in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy has not decreased, but rather increased significantly in the conditions of independent Ukraine. The solution of these problems depends primarily on the availability of qualified staff of scientists, engineers, creators of new technologies and systems. And, of course, it was logical to continue to maintain these traditions in “KPI” and create the faculty of renewable energy sources. It successfully works closely with the Institute of renewable energy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Furthermore, the advances in training and research in this and some other industries is largely determined by our cooperation with foreign colleagues - primarily with representatives of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Poland… One concrete outcome of this collaboration was the establishment of joint Ukrainian-Polish Centre of improvement of technologies of renewable energy and energy efficiency on the base of the faculty of electric power engineering and automation of our University. And I am sure that our conference will be further evidence of the effectiveness of such research workers cooperation".
Participation in conference opening and first plenary session was attended by extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine Henryk Litwin, Commercial Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine Kim Kwan-Hee, head of the representative office of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kiev Henrik Sobchuk, the Director of the Department of renewable energy development the State Agency on energy efficiency and energy saving of Ukraine Igor Kovalyov, representatives of other state authorities and international organizations, employees of energy companies and scientists from Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Denmark, China, and also teachers, post-graduates and students of NTUU "KPI".
Leading Ukrainian and foreign scientists will discuss the very topical problem of renewable energy and energy efficiency. It is important that the reports, which are submitted for consideration by the conference, deals with only theoretical but also practical issues. Therefore the conference has theoretical and practical status. Participants will review the development trends and prospects for the use of renewable energy sources, electricity and bio-energy, hydrogen, geothermal and hydropower, the problems of heat supply of the country, particularly energy management, technical issues of energy production and energy saving and so on.
The conference will last until May 30th.
