January 19, 2015 teachers and researchers NTUU "KPI" met with their counterparts from E. O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the NAS of Ukraine.
The meeting was held at the Institute and was presided by its Director, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Boris Paton. The Rector NTUU “KPI”, NAS of Ukraine academician Michael Zgurovsky, headed the delegation of Kyiv Polytechnic.
Representatives of the NTUU "KPI" demonstrated to experts of E.O. Paton Electric Welding Institute, and among them there were managers and leading specialists departments of the Institute, a number of ready-to-implement developments and proposed to colleagues to take part in further work on the solution of technological problems associated with their implementation in production and improvement. Rector of the University presented the authors of developments, gave an overview of each, and spoke about the activities of the Scientific Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" and system innovation, built at the university based on this structure.
Subjects of most projects that offered to the participants of the meeting KPI scientists were related to the important now for the Ukrainian defense problems: "Unmanned aerial vehicles for advanced applications," "Spaced armor and armor parts to improve resource", "Composite armor-reinforced super hard, heavy-duty ceramic materials "" Modern water treatment systems in emergency situations "and others. In addition, participants were acquainted with the presentation of developed in NTUU "KPI" first Ukrainian university nanosatellite «PolyITAN-1", which for seven months stays in Earth orbit, and the space program of the University.
Meeting participants identified several areas for further cooperation, primarily, of course, the use of modern welding technologies in the manufacturing process of the respective products, the solution of complex material science problems, the preparation of some technological solutions and the like.
In addition, for the production of some products made of composite armor of heavy-duty reinforced ceramic materials E.O.Paton Electric Welding Institute will provide its own production facilities. To address specific issues of cooperation a joint working group will be established within next two weeks. It will include scientists KPI and PEWI.
The President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Paton summed up the meeting. "We were all very impressed with the way the KPI is moving - he said. - To address the issues that we discussed today, which are very important especially in the context of ATO, we can and should unite our efforts, and we will work on it ... KPI – is a great power. You are now at the forefront of science. We reviewed today only work related to our two organizations, ie KPI and the Electric Welding Institute. But this practice should be extended to other institutes of the National Academy of Sciences – there are many of them. Therefore, we must after this first step move to the next and organize the joint work with our other research institutions. It will be very important and useful. "
