The department of machine tools and machine design of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering has an effective collaboration with Heidenhain, a German company which specializes in production of control systems for CNC machine tools, high-precision measuring of linear and angular displacements, tools of digital indication and other equipment for machine tools with computer control. Her interests in Ukraine are presented by a company Gertner Service GmbH, which promotes a high quality product to the market, supplies equipment, materials, tools and works hard on popularization of these products, training and retraining of the staff. The staff training is conducted according to the collaboration agreement with our department.
Under this agreement the department of machine tools and machine design together with Heidenhain held scientific and technical seminar in order to familiarize students and teachers of the department with the latest achievements of the company and new developments, including methods of staff training.
The seminar was attended by representatives of Gertner Service GmbH O.L. Naumenko and O.V. Shved as well as the head of department prof. V.B. Strutynskyy, deputy director of IME O.A. Ohrimenko, students, teachers, leading specialists of enterprises, members of the Youth segment of the National Technology Transfer Network. The Youth segment operates in NTUU "KPI" since 2012 on the basis of the department of machine tools and machine design and forms the technological sections of the National Technology Transfer Network.
The manager of the training center of Heidenhain Mykola Konov gave informative lectures which cover the entire spectrum of modern achievements and means of their implementation, including technology for milling and turning using the Heidenhain CNC system. The audience was particularly interested in the presentation of interactive learning program, the implementation of which into the learning process will improve the quality of training of our students. We have reached the preliminary agreement on the transfer of this program to the department.
The examples of products and methods of their practical use were demonstrated to the participants of the seminar. Special interest was evoked by digital indication devices. Such devices produced by Heidenhain allows to read information optimally on a flat monitor, including the display of graphs, equipped with data transmission interface for further processing of the measurement results, easy to operate, maintain and so on.
At the end of the seminar, it was pointed that in the learning process IME already uses the software and devices for programming transferred to the department in 2011. Students learn these techniques with pleasure and use them for the preparation of their course and diploma projects. At present, our graduates are successfully working in machine-building enterprises, including Heidenhain. We would like to note the active work of the executive director of Gertner Service GmbH O.L. Naumenko, as thanks to her enthusiasm the cooperation of the company with the department is supported on a regular basis.
During the discussion it was suggested to hold such seminars annually, as a student contingent changes and the exchange of views with experts who in practice use certain elements and means of programming, will improve the effectiveness of future work.
