October 3-5th 2013 in Riga (Latvia), in the main building of Swedbank was held international project in developing high technologies 7th Riga Commercialization Reactor (“Reactor of Commercialization”), where scientists met with entrepreneurs.
People with entrepreneurial skills had the opportunity to become acquainted with selected experts of “Reactor” who were ready to high technology elaboration, and on their basis can be global oriented export business-star up organized. There were not only experienced entrepreneurs but also beginners, and managers of private or state sectors of all levels, third course students of commercial universities with excellent English and Russian languages.
The idea of creation of “Reactor” belongs to Mykola Adamovych – general director of Latvian investment company SIA "FNG Invest". According to Mycola words, he has the diploma of physic and h is an entrepreneur by vocation, “… in Latvia there is no powerful state corporations and people can only get money by their own talent. The originality of “Reactor of Commercialization”consists in that people can go here, having only enthusiasm, and go away with signed agreement of new perspective enterprise support. Projects which are realized in the context of “Reactor”, can have the help not in investment but also advises of experienced consultants, that very often is much more important than finance support. We also will help with team creation, examination, intensive studying and drawing into venture capital.
“Reactor” is laying in Riga and directed definitely on Latvian entrepreneurs and investors. And here we can see the innovations from all CIS and EU. This year on the 7th meeting of “Reactor of Commercialization” there were presented 18 selected science projects of such streams as nanotechnologies and bio technologies, recourse and energy saving technologies, medicine, telecommunications. Scientists from Latvia presented three projects, 3 projects were from Ukraine, 2 from Armenia, 9 – from Russia, and also one work from Germany. Project “Metal-ceramic x-rate tubes of new age for medic and technical diagnoses” was presented form our university.
The first working day was devoted to scientists’ reports who presented their researches in form of presentations with further detailed analyses of “Reactor” experts. Taking into account experts remarks and “reactor” organizes on the second working day nearly 200 entrepreneurs and businessmen carefully listened the reports, after that consultative section took place, and on agenda it was not longer than 20 minutes on every discussion, so entrepreneurs had the opportunity to call a question to every developer – from science basis of works to commercialization plan.
At the end of the second day of “reactor”, work continued in the groups in which were entrepreneurs interested in it. The third day potential commercial people of presented projects had a meeting with scientists already selecting the project and deeply having learned it. The strategy of further work and possible way of realization were discussed together. And project presentation before potential investors and their experts had entrepreneurs made, after definite consultation, hold by professor of marketing of Star up academy of Stolkovo (Russia) Gary Fauler.
The bottom line of “reactor” financing presented on “Reactor” will be accepled on December 18, 2013 after some consultations of potential investors with stream experts.
Created in the work process companies of “reactor” will get the opportunity of venture financing on project realization from such Latvian and international investors as "Imprimatur Capital", "Seed Fund of Russian Venture Company", "Amber Sea Business Angel Club" etc. also “reactor” collaborate with "Amber Sea Business Angel Club", "Start-up Academy Skolkovo" etc.
Today with the support of “Reactor of Commercialization” created 30 new businesses, and 16 of them used 2.8 million euros for realization prospective ideas of financing.
This important event was with the support of Rigas’ Duma, patent agency TriaRobit, international interdepartmental organizations ISTC and STCU, business school RISEBA and others.
