NTUU "KPI" hosted a meeting in the frame of Round Table "Weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and dual-use expertise, reorientation and prevention." The Round table was organized by the Ukrainian Scientific-Technological Center and the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA). The purpose of the meeting is to exchange experience of experts in the field of nonproliferation programs and conversion programs. Participants in the round table are the leading specialists for Disarmament Affairs of the United States, Canada, European Union, Iraq, Kazakhstan, and representatives of the OSCE, the World Health Organization, the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and the 1540 Committee, in accordance with the resolution of which all States Parties undertake to refrain from providing any form of assistance to non-State organizations, that attempt to develop, acquire, possess, transport, transfer or use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons and their means of delivery. At the first meeting of the Roundtable there were speaches of the Rector of NTUU "KPI" NAS of Ukraine academician Michale Zgurovsky, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine John F. Tefft, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Troy Lyulashnik, deputy head of the State Agency on Science, Innovations and Informatization Boris Grinyov, head of the UN Office for WMD disarmament Gabriela Kraatz-Vadsak, Director of international Security and disarmament, Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Alexander and others. Executive director of STCU Michael Aynik is a Chairman of the meetings. Events Roundtable will continue April 17 and 18.
