Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute ranks second among Ukrainian higher educational establishments in regular Webometrics rating

A regular rating of the world university according to rating of presence in Webometrics Ranking Web of Universities network as of January, 17 is made public. National technical university "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic institute" took second position in Ukrainian segment of this rating.

In total, 20 thousand of universities from all over the world, including 342 Ukrainian ones made the rating list.

Top ten of Ukrainian higher educational establishments according to their activity presence in Internet space:

  2. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute
  3. Sumy national university
  4. V. N. Karazin Kharkiv national university
  5. Ivan Franko Lviv national university
  6. Mechnikov Odessa national university
  7. NTU "Kharkiv polytechnic institute"
  8. National university "Lviv polytechnics"
  9. National aviation university
  10. Ternopil national economic university


The rating is made by Cybermetrics Laboratory of Spanish National Research Council», CSIC at Ministry of science and innovations of Spain. Developers make it public twice per yea - in July and January.

The following factors are included while fixing up the position of the university in the rating:

Presence– the number of pages in domain of a particular organization  (all sub domains and file formats, including those in PDF format are taken into account) according to Google data (10%);

Visibility– the number of external sources having university web-pages back reference that is rated by analysis service of external references Ahrefs.com and reference analysis system Majestic for search optimization and marketing on the Internet  (50 %);

Transparency (or Openness)– the number of citations of top authors of a particular organization according to Google Scholar Citations (previous rating according to this index was made public in December, 2016) (10%);

Excellence (or Scholar) – the number of articles by scientists working for the university and who are among the best 10%, the most cited in 26 disciples as per calculation by Scimago (30%).
