The department trains programmers who are specialists in the field of software development. The department's curriculum and qualified teaching staff ensure that students acquire fundamental and applied skills for various professional tasks in designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting software systems of different architectures and purposes.
Studying at the department involves learning the following programming languages: C#, C++, Java, PHP, Javascript, Prolog, Lisp, Erlang, Python, and languages for working with structured data: SQL, PL/SQL, and ObjectScript. Attention is paid to studying software development methods using artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, computer vision, design patterns, MVC and MVP architectural patterns, and other modern architectural solutions. Different environments, development tools, and technologies are also studied: Android SDK, Node.js, ODBC, ADO.NET, JDBC, Native DB, WCF, GRID, OpenMP, and MPI.
A feature of the department is that academic disciplines are constantly updated following the requirements of modern information technologies. Together with leading scientists, young talented specialists in the field of computer science work at the department.
The department's students can study and intern under the ERASMUS + program in Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, Spain, and France, and participate in the secondary education program.
The department combines glorious traditions (which were awarded the highest state awards) with the development of startups based on the most modern computer technologies, in the implementation of which domestic specialists are interested, and representatives of many Western countries are interested. Employees of the department participate in international scientific projects.
Graduates of the department significantly contribute to the development of science and technology. Many graduates work as leading specialists in creating and using information technologies in Ukraine and abroad. The spectrum of employment of graduates is vast, from world-famous computer technology corporations (Microsoft, Google, Oracle, and others) to the creation of their commercial projects, both in the homeland and abroad. Our graduates, who skillfully combine scientific, teaching, and professional activities, taught at the department for different years. Among them are candidates and doctors of science.
