NTUU “KPI” has become the leader of National academic rating in 2016. Being ahead of the other higher educational establishments of Ukraine, NTUU “KPI” took the lead on the criterion “Innovative activity of the universities”.

The criterion “Innovative activity of the universities” has been implemented by the Organizational Committee of the National academic rating “TOP-200 of Ukraine” with the support of International Rating Supervisory Expert Council along with the recommendations of the last Lisbon forum of International Ranging Expert Group (IREG) and critical need of Ukraine in highly technological and innovative development of its economy. The criterion has been envisaged by the amount of private and highly technological business investments into university start-ups. With that not only technical developments but the projects of different fields of human activity (biological, medical, agricultural, humanitarian etc.) as well were considered as start-ups; they were based on new ideas and great demand on the consumers market.

During the last year there were over 40 start-ups, designed by the innovative ecosystem of NTUU “KPI” «Sikorsky Challenge», 29 of which were sponsored by the private venture funds and highly technological companies in the amount of 573 million UAH. On the basis of such model, NTUU “KPI has created and launched into space the first Ukrainian nano-satellite “PolyTan1” and is setting up orbital launching of other space systems, it has brought to market a series of unmanned space vehicles “Spectator” designed for army and civil branches of Ukrainian industry, has implemented industrial technologies for water purification, the most modern systems in the field of green power industry, biomedical engineering, aviation and in other spheres of human activity.
“TOP-200 Ukraine” rating methodology together with “Innovative activity of universities” part is posted on the “Euroosvita” site (http://www.euroosvita.net/index.php/?category=28&id=1095).

On the basis of this methodology, university data and expert assessment, the rating of the best 200 universities of Ukraine 2015/2016 was defined by the team of “TOP-200 Ukraine”.

Second best is Kyiv national university named after Taras Shevchenko.
Kharkiv higher educational establishments – National University named after V. N. Karazin and National technical university “Kharkiv polytechnic institute” came third and fourth respectively. The fifth place was given to National university “Lviv polytechnic”
