Information and Telecommunication University Environment has campus information and telecommunication networks, IT network support systems, university information portal and information websites for various purposes, learning process information support systems ("Entrant", "Dean" e-learning system), "Electronic Campus" system, corporate databases, "Electronic Library" system, supercomputer calculating recourses. Herewith, information and telecommunication university network is the main information resource, which ensures all systems functioning.
STA "KPI-Telecom" established high-speed optical core data communication network. 29 academic buildings and all 20 university hostels are connected to this network and 10 GE (10 HihabitEzernet) modern high-speed data communication is introduced. Now the main emphasis is placed on further development of local network segments in academic buildings and hostels. University selection committee separate optical network, which ensures employees functioning in faculties selection committees at 7, 13, 15, 16 and 18 academic buildings, works on the further development of local networks aviation and space systems faculty, publishing and printing institute, Engineering Physics Faculty, Sport and Physical Education Centre, number of university departments. In addition, STA "KPI-Telecom" accomplished works for optical data communication channel creation for direct connection of the University supercomputer to following networks: pan-European multi-gigabit research educational network, Ukrainian Telecommunications Education Research Network URAN, European Organization for Nuclear research "CERN".
Continuous development of university information systems for different purposes (mainly, University departments websites; there were 285 University sites in the end of 2011 and in the end of 2012 there were 419 sites) needs quite significant upgrading of the University central server. STA "KPI-Telecom" bought three powerful modern servers. This allows to increase productivity, reliability of websites and other technological university network systems, and to provide departments not only with the simplest web hosting services but since 2013 also with VPS / VDS services (Virtual Private Server / Virtual Dedicated Server). Each virtual server has its own processes, resources, configuration and separate administration. Service users will receive full and independent control and management of these virtual servers. As a result, every virtual server user can install any applications, create sites using the technology and tools that are more familiar to him, work with files and perform any other tasks. Now the main University park server, which serves by STA "KPI-Telecom", consists of 31 servers.
Wireless access network is constantly devolving. It is one of the components of the university telecommunication network. Different information sources are quite often mention Kiev Free Wi-Fi open access projects, which, with the support of Kyiv City State Administration, were implemented in different places of Kyiv toward Euro-2012. STA "KPI-Telecom" conducted similar free access Wi-FI project in the end of 2011when 7 "open" access Wi-Fi points were installed in the library of NTU "KPI". In 2012 many university faculties supported this project. Thus, with the help of student council and faculties/institutes administration 4 free Wi-Fi assess points of FME (faculty of mechanical engineering) faculty in the 1st academic building, 3 points of MMF (marketing and management faculty) in 7 and 16 academic buildings, 2 points of SJF (sociology and justice faculty) in academic building number 7, 2 points of CEF (chemical engineering faculty) in 19 academic building, 3 points of PPI (publishing and printing institute) in 8 academic bulding, 1 point in Art and Culture Centre, Wi-Fi network RTF (Radio technical faculty) in 17 academic building, 7 points of FICS (Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science) in 18 academic building, 5 points of TSI (telecommunication systems institute) in 30 academic building were established. The total number of "open" access Wi-Fi points on the territory of the University is 40, with account for previously established by STA "KPI-Telecom" "open" access points in the library and in the preventative clinic.
Data communication exterior channels are the main informational resources which provide staff and student access to world information resources and external users access to the University information resources. The University is a member of the Ukrainian Traffic Exchange UA-IX and is connected to the network on the speed of 10 Gb/s; University is the basic block of Ukrainian Telecommunications Education Research Network URAN (Internet speed is 10 Gb/s) through which it receives accesses to the resources of pan-European scientific and educational network GÉANT2; University has two separate Internet channels. In 2012 due to users access to external networks growing needs, external channels tension increasing due to campus network modernization and implementation of new schemes of Internet access in 2012 expanded the total capacity of the external channels to "world" segment of the Internet to 2.25 GB / sec.
International electronic publications access provides through "URAN" network. Some resources require authorized access (users of corporate University network have such access) (Table 1), and some resources have open access (Table 2). these Access to information resources of university network users is possible through the university portal www.biblio.kpi.ua.
In 2012 STA "KPI-Telecom" has started to develop the project of highly efficient multi-access wireless network with centralized control. The project involves integration of wired and wireless solutions at the level of campus network access. It enables functions transfer to ensure service quality, security policies, user authentication service for multiservice Wi-Fi access points and effectively manage this network as a single integrated system. The project involves access points setting in all university buildings and hostels with provision of large coverage areas and implementation of wireless distribution system (WDS), which allows to switch from one point to another without stopping the operation of all network services automatically. Within this project preparation STA "KPI-Telecom" tested equipment of Cisco, Ruckus, Hewlett-Packard, Zyxel companies. Now, jointly with Hewlett-Packard Company, pilot project in 20 hostels is implemented within this project all functional and technical equipment characteristics are verifying and setup diagrams are developing, operation and monitoring control is carrying out. Implementation and exploitation of multiservice wireless network access project scheduled for 2013
