If you ask an average person, with whom he associates the name of Mikhaylo Vasylyovich, military leader Frunze or scientist Lomonosov are mentioned. However for students of the KPI – it is a Head of the Department of Student polyclinic M.V.Shamardak, who has been holding this position for 26 years. Now he is celebrating his 65th birthday. No matter how hard it can be, the university students get free, available and highly qualified medical aid. For many years here are concentrated the best achievements in the field of student medicine – qualified staff, medical technology and treatment of the sick. A big prophylactic work is performed.
Life path can’t be straight, but only purposeful and hard-working people, who are led by love and care towards people, leave good remembrance and appreciation of surrounding. Today we remember with a great respect that all labor activity of M.V.Shamardak is tightly connected with the high and noble mission - serving medicine. He proved his professional activity, made a significant contribution to the promotion and strengthening of students’ health in the university. He is respected for this.
Mikhaylo was born on November 9, 1948 in the poor rural family. After graduating from middle school, being 17 years old a young man worked at the Kyiv factory of experimental constructions, and from there he went to the army. After demobilization he studied in the pediatric department of the Kiev Bogomolets Medical Institute. After receiving medical profession, he worked in Irpinska central city hospital, where he went all the way from the district pediatrician to head doctor of the children's hospital. Later he was promoted to the position of confidential physician of the Central Committee of Trade Unions of the Kyiv region.
And many years as a doctor of the highest accreditation level M.V.Shamardak devoted himself to the organization of medical care of the students, working as head of the polyclinical department № 1 of Kyiv City student polyclinic that serves to students of NTUU "KPI". Polyclinical department, together with the whole health care system is going through hard times, but despite the social and economical problems, conscientiously performs its functional calling.
Students of the KPI can be proud of having such a treatment facility where they can get medical help without interruption of the studying process. The activity of polyclinical department, together with the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering and the health and recreation center, is concentrated on performance of the long-term care program "Mednetpolitekh ", one part of which is to improve the health of the students.
The staff of the KPI wishes you, Mikhaylo Vasylyovich, health and longevity. Continue to develop all groundwork that you started in the KPI. May all university alumni be not only highly qualified professionals, but also healthy people.
