Petro Mihailovich Talanchuk (1.7.1938, Gorodishe-Kosivske, Volodarsky district, Kyiv region) - PhD, Professor, Minister of Education of Ukraine (1992-1994), member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Researcher of Ukraine, President Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine", member of the International Association of Universities Presidents (IAUP). Graduate KPI. Rector of KPI 1987 - 1992 years.

Petro Mihailovich Talanchuk was born July 1, 1938 in Kiev region. In the school he was a leader, an excellent student. Graduating KPI in 1965 P.M. Talanchuk received the diploma with honors and was qualified as the mechanical engineer. In 1966 he became an assistant and lecturer. In 1972 he defended his thesis, and in 1986 - his doctoral thesis. In 1973, Peter Mihailovich was appointed vice-rector for educational work KPI, was elected head of the Department of Precision Mechanics. In the years 1987-1992 Professor P.M. Talanchuk was Rector of the Polytechnic Institute. 1989-1991, he was the Deputy of the USSR on October territorial electoral district N 466 Kyiv, was a member of deputy interregional group, co-chairman of the club deputies of the parliament of Ukraine. December 12, 1991 he was appointed the first Minister of Education of the independent Ukraine. On his initiative and under his leadership the education started to be reformed. At the first Congress of Educators the national program "Education. Ukraine - XXI century " was discussed and approved. He was the presidential candidate in the elections 1994.

In the years 1994-1998 P.M. Talanchuk - Director of the Institute "Spectrum" at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". Since 1998 he is the founder and President of the higher educational institution - the Open International University of Human Development "Ukraine".

P.M. Talanchuk is the member of 4 international academies. Honorary Rector of the National Technical University "KPI" (1992). Honored Researcher of Ukraine (1991). P.M. Talanchuk was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1985); has 2 medals and the Cross of Honour "For Spiritual Revival".

P.M. Talanchuk is the author / co-author of 350 scientific papers, including 11 monographs and textbooks. He has 50 patented inventions.
