April 10, 2014 the Department of electro-mechanical equipment for energy-consuming industries (EMOEV) celebrates its 25th anniversary. The history begins in 1989 when Faculty of Mining Electrical Engineering and Automation was reorganized into Faculty of Mining Engineering and the Department of mining electrical engineering was renewed. Candidate of Sciences and Docent Shevchuk S. was appointed as HoD.
The first mining electrical engineers who entered the Department in 1990 graduated in February 1996. Since 1990, one of the new activities of the Department is training mining engineers, electrical engineers for underground structures of the city: Construction Management "Kyivmetrobud" Electromechanical service and the Kiev Metro Escalators, KyivPidzemBud, Specialized administration of antilandslide undergroung works of the Dnipro River right bank, Institute "Kyivmetroproekt" etc. In Construction Management "Kyivmetrobud" was opened a branch of the Departmenb headed by a graduate of Faculty of Mining Engineering, KPI, in 1955 and an experienced mechanic Kulinich V. The branch main task is to provide practical training of students at the Construction Management "Kyivmetrobud," the organization of the training centers for students, professors of Faculty, joint research activities etc.
In order to improve the competitive situation in the Entrance campaign and ensure continuity of degrees and levels of education in multistage education system partment initiated the establishment of the KPI "Kyiv educational complex mining engineering education" in 1994 which today includes 14 technical colleges and Ukraine mining and electromechanical profiles. Top graduates gain the right to begin a relevant speciality training in first, second or third course depending on the results of the interview. Successful work in addition to improving the quality of Complex selection of applicants and students of the second and third courses can significantly facilitate the solution of problems with practice and employment of graduates.
In 1995 in connection with the integration of specialities according to the new Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine speciality list of Education of Ukraine Department continues to prepare students for training direction 7.092204 "Electromechanical equipment for energy-consuming industries" (specialization "Electromechanical equipment for the urban underground construction" and "Machinery and electromechanical equipment for mining, oil and gas production "). One of the new directions of its activity is the training in the operation of electromechanical equipment of oil and gas industry and also designing in the institutions and enterprises of the relevant type.
As a result of cooperation with enterprises of the industry the third speciality of Department was opened - "Technical management and diagnosis of electromechanical equipment of oil and gas industry." In order to enhance teaching and laboratory facilities, practice and graduates distribution in 1998 was established a new branch of the Department - OJSC Ukrainian Oil and Gas Institute. In addition to practice and employment of graduates the branch provides the opportunities for students to research and train in use of borehole.
Later the department opened two more branches - the Institute for Superhard Materials of NAS of Ukraine and the Institute of Electrodynamics of NAS of Ukraine.
Training and laboratory base of the Department includes 14 laboratories of mechanical and electrical profiles.
In 1998 the Department began to train Masters. Today it provides 100% employment of its graduates and takes one of the leading places in "KPI".
Department research work is carried out according to the main direction "New technologies and resource saving technologies in energy, industry and agriculture." Today there are 7 postgraduates in the Department. Here is held the students annual Scientific Conference on "Problems of improvement of machinery and equipment for geotechnical industries. Students scientific achievements." Colleagues and students regularly participate in national and international scientific conferences in the relevant field. Among the scientific achievements of the department staff - over 1,000 published scientific papers, 400 patents of Ukraine and for invenpatent, 8 monographs and handbooks classified by Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
In 1999 in order to concentrate research efforts of the staff and in accordance with the Resolution of Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 148 of 05.02.97 on "Comprehensive Program for Energy Saving of Ukraine" Department created a "Center of Energy Efficient pulsed-wave structures, technologies and training systems" (TSIKT) as a structural division of the Institute for Energy Saving and Energy Management. The main objective of the Centre is to develop and implement advanced energy-saving technologies in industry, educational and methodological work of the Department.
Art groups and individual members of the Department have created projects and operating prototypes of hand Hydroplugger, add Hydroplugger of a large impact energy, and ink-jet multiplier pulsators, excavator, crane mechanisms and their executive bodies, software research, specialized CAD software to develop design documentation.
The Department actively participates in international scientific collaboration. Researches on cleaning fluids with the Polish company "POLUKS" were conducted with success. On the asis of TSIKT was organized a close cooperation with CJSC "Renfors" (RF) on creating a new pulse-wave equipment to recover oil wells.
Students won a grant competition for the fifth research projects to receive "KPI" financial support in 2008/09 under the GDR № 5-9; II degree Diploma in Ukrainian competition of student research papers in the field of "Electrical Engineering" in section "General Issues and components of electrical systems"; diploma and degree at the VII National Contest "Youth - Energy Ukraine - 2009 Open Call for Young Energetic" among students in the category "Eco and Energy"; II degree Diploma in student competition on the subject "Safety"; 2nd place in the second round of the Ukrainian Student Olympiad on the subject "Safety" and many others.
Commissioned by the Department of Energy of Ukraine EMOEV staff developed a standard MBE JMA 60.3-00013741-003:2008 "Main Oil Pipeline. Procedure decommissioning, canning and preserving maintenance mode disabled pipeline stations. Conditions suspension and withdrawal of regime preservation disconnected sections of trunk pipelines" (the Head - Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Terentyev O.).
Over the past five years the Department implemented two state budget research works and six self-financing.
During 2012/13 academic year the Department NPP gets 2575 points in average that is why it takes the 17 th place among other departments of "KPI".
Today the Department includes: prof. SP Shevchuk (head), prof. A. Terentiev, prof. LI Mazurenko, PhD. IS Riabenko, PhD. VM Slidenko, PhD. S. Zaychenko, PhD, prof. Assoc. VG Gorodetskyy, PhD. LK Listovshchyk, PhD. A. Popovych, Ph.D., p. off. A. Meyta, Ph.D., p. off. IV Golovan, Ph.D., Al. A. Vorfolomieiev, p. off. VA Polishchuk, Al. MP Osadchuk.
Department staff actively working to reform the education system in Ukraine on behalf of the NMC MON Ukraine it developes a new generation of education standards (OKH, EPP, OK), training direction 7.05070205 "Electromechanical systems geotechnical industries."
