From the first days, more than three hundred Kyiv polytechnics, thousands of graduates of previous years stood up in arms to defend their homeland.
Among them was Yuriy Popil, Associate Professor of the Welding Department of the E.O. Paton Institute of IMZ, PhD in Engineering!
He joined the army as a volunteer at the age of 58. He was an infantryman in the 23rd Separate Infantry Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He liberated Kyiv region, served 16 months at ground zero in Donetsk region. A few months ago, he was demobilized upon reaching the age of 60.
