The most important results of the KPI Supervisory Board. Training of engineering personnel for defense and effective engineering innovative solutions for the front line are the main tasks of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute today. The developments of university scientists and students should work for victory and be actively used by our army. This is the goal set by the Rector of Kyiv Polytechnic Mykhailo Zgurovsky for the university's scientific schools.

"Our main proposal to the Supervisory Board and the Prime Minister is the mass production of our own weapons. We see the need to create a very competent environment in Ukraine, similar to the US DARPA, which would determine what types of weapons we need," commented the rector.

After the full-scale invasion, KPI transformed and quickly adapted to wartime. In particular, a team of leading scientists and analysts

of the KPI Situation Center has been processing and analyzing data of utmost importance to the country non-stop. Among other things, the Center predicted the possible consequences of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion. Kyiv Polytechnic has also adapted its educational system to the needs of the defense industry. The university now trains managers for the defense industry. More than 300 specialists are currently working to protect the state.

It is also about physical recovery from the consequences of the war. The university's specialists, together with partners, take care of prosthetics and rehabilitation. Within the walls of Kyiv Polytechnic, they develop unique bones, knees and bionic prostheses for the military and civilians. KPI also trains future rehabilitation therapists who will provide quality physical and psychological assistance to the victims.
"Kyiv Polytechnic has always been an intellectual leader. It is extremely important that this intellectual power is strengthened and fully utilized. KPI makes a huge contribution to our ability to defend ourselves without waiting for someone else's mercy. Our Silicon Valley can be not only on the basis of my native Pivdenmash, as I have been saying for many years, but also here at Kyiv Polytechnic. We have everything to protect ourselves: brains, will, school, traditions. And I believe that our joint work will help, first of all, the defenders of Ukraine," Leonid Kuchma said.

One of the largest areas of KPI's work - participation in the space program of Ukraine - remains constant during the great war. Engineers are working on the creation of PolyITAN satellites, three of which are currently in Earth orbit. Among the achievements of the engineers are studies of heat pipes, solar panels, and bio-fauna in space; high-resolution sensing of the Earth's surface for defense purposes.

Kyiv Polytechnic will continue to hold the engineering front, only increasing its performance in this area. And will actively work for the development of the Ukrainian defense industry.
