In 2009 Mikulonok Igor Olegovych won the honorary title of "teacher-researcher" for the third time. He works at the Department of machinery and apparatus of chemical and petroleum production of engineering and chemical faculty for over 20 years. He worked as a laboratory assistant, engineer, junior researcher, associate professor, professor. In 1991 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of technical sciences, and last year became a doctor of technical sciences. He has over 150 articles, nearly 60 teaching developments (over 20 textbooks stamped by MES of Ukraine), more than 400 inventions and utility models, forty of which are put into production.
In 1990 he graduated from Kyiv Institute of technical creativity and patents of All-Union Society of Inventors and Innovators and gained qualification of technical creativity. In the mid-90s he worked as a specialist (on a part-time basis) in one of the most respected firms of patent attorneys of Ukraine. In 1995 he graduated from Kharkiv Politechnic Institute, receiving the second degree and got a diploma of specialist of patents. He undertook an internship at All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of State Patent Examination Rospatent. Since the late 90s he teaches the discipline "Intellectual Property". He is the author of the textbook "Fundamentals of Intellectual Property" (the fifth edition was published in 2010), which is successfully used in the learning process of many leading local universities, not just in technical direction.
I.O. Mikulonok actively involves young people in creative activities. He has participated in All-Ukrainian meeting of young scientists, technicians, inventors and innovators, he is the author of the magazine "Intellectual Property" and member of the editorial board of the popular science magazine for youth "Country of Knowledge." More than eight dozens of students independently or in cooperation with I.O.Mikulonok received more than a hundred of protection documents for their technical solutions.
He successfully combines his teaching career with administrative work, firstly as vice dean of the Faculty of chemical engineering and head of the educational department, and later - the first vice-rector of the University - the head of educational-methodical management. But such employment does not interfere him to be engaged in inventive activity. In 2006 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored inventor of "KPI" and in the past - "Honored inventor of Ukraine". Thus he became the fifth Honored inventor of Ukraine who works in Kiev Polytechnic. In 2009 he was awarded a diploma of the State Department of Intellectual Property and the title "Creator."
I asked Igor Olegovych to share the secret of success. He said the following:
- Briefly I am constantly learning. Firstly in KPI, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, known all over the Soviet Union school of professor U. U. Lukach. During the study I participated in the work of economic contracts, so that I made my first inventions being a student. After the graduation from KPI I worked at the Construction Department of polymer engineering of plant "Bilshovyk", where I always faced unusual problems and where I learned a lot talking with experienced workers.
I read a lot, follow news of my field and related fields.I regularly visit special exhibitions, which often take place in the International Exhibition Centre on Brovary Avenue and in the center "Expoplaza" on Salutna street. Also I organize excursions for students. We organize trips for students. Teaching also stimulates the search - a teacher who doesn’t know news of his field looks strange. In addition, due to the increased requirements of the scientific level of master works, the curator of the work should improve own professional level.
Of course I try to keep body in tone. I regularly walk and cycle tens of kilometers. I would also like to address to students and emphasized that the student years is the best time to form yourself as a person when you can choose a lot of things by yourself. Our university gives you unique opportunities: powerful scientific schools, a great library, numerous sports clubs, art groups, various clubs. Student years is a time when person can try to cover everything. And it should be used.
Congratulations to Igor Olegovych on recognition of his success and we wish him success in inventive and scientific activities for the benefit of our university, good fortune in these achievements and recognition of national science and technology!
