From July 29 to August 2, 2013 in the Chinese city of Chengdu - the administrative center of the province of Sichuan - took place the 21st International conference on nuclear engineering (21st International Conference on Nuclear Engineering - ICONE21). This conference - the world's largest forum of experts in nuclear power. This year more than 1100 reports in 16 directions were submitted. As organizers of conference the Chinese nuclear society (CNS), Japanese society of mechanical engineers (JMSE) and the American society of mechanical engineers (ASME) acted.
Young researchers took part in conference - representatives of NTUU "KPI": the students Roman Stremedlovsky (FHPE) and Anastasia Zvorykina (FW), the postgraduate student of the NPP and ITF department Vladislav Solovyov (FHPE) and the postgraduates of FHPE Vasily Zayats, Maxim Vyshemirsky and Bogdan Grishchenko. All of them overcame previously several elimination rounds.
The first stage of selection which finished in November, 2012, involved writing a short annotation where it was necessary to specify a subject of research and by several words to outline the importance and advantage of performed work.
Later arrived messages from the organizers about the first results of selection and the information about further actions. It was necessary to write the full version of the report for further reviewing by leading scientists - representatives of ASME. In March 2013, those whose works were acknowledged, received the formal invitations to participate in the conference.
It should be noted that the selection of student's scientific reports for FHPE was organized for the support of professor of Ontario University (Oshawa, Canada), the full member of ASME, the graduate of KPI of 1979, the Honorable doctor NTUU "KPI" Igor Leonardovich Pioro. Also the scientific community of NTUU "KPI" sincerely thanks American Society of Mechanical Engineers for their support, and hopes that our students will represent further our university on the international scientific arena.
Each plenary session at the International conference on nuclear engineering was headed by the chairman of session and together with his assistant represented the speakers before the performance. One of such sessions, namely 16-7 "Accidents, diagnostics and risks" was headed by the young participant of conference, the student of our university Roman Stremedlovsky with the Chinese colleague Jensen Wren from Jiao Tong's Siansky university.
Except the plenary sessions, daily from 12:00 till 14:00,the participants of conference, were near their posters and told everyone about the works and benefits they carry in themselves.
During the stay in China, the representatives of KPI were able to visit many interesting places. Among them: Confucian and Buddhist temples to Chengdu, Tyanfu Square, Chanksi Road area, the Chinese natural reserve of big pandas, and even Global Centre - the world's largest house (1,7 million square meters), which opening took place on July 1, 2013.
The organizers of conference also took care to conduct technical tours. The participants visited Institute of nuclear power of China, and also Science fusion center where not only saw a lot of interesting, but also listened to informative reports.
Individually I want to congratulate the master of FHPE of NPP and ITF department Roman Stremedlovsky in triumph! Its work on the topic "The design analysis of the retention of the melt and cooling reactor in severe accidents on at the NPP with the serial pile assembly B-320" was recognized as the best among all student's works. The student of FW Anastasia Zvorykina was awarded by the diploma for the best design of a poster on the research topic.
