In November, 2013 the round table was held by the Department of International Economics of NTUU"KPI" in order to find the optimal path of alternative energy development on the basis of biological resources. The theme of the discussion is relevant for Ukraine in connection with the need to reduce the level of energy dependence, so the meeting was attended by scientists, entrepreneurs, financiers and government officials. Discussion attracted attention of students and young scientists from Ukraine and abroad.
As you know, Ukraine pledged since the beginning of 2014 to introduce the mandatory sale of petrol with bioethanol content of not less than 5% (in Europe use petrol containing up to 10% ethanol). Bioethanol can be used for self-energy sufficient sugar factories. This decreases the cost of sugar, it becomes cheaper than European and Brazilian. The largest sugar refinery in Europe with the latest technology is designed in Vinnitsa. It will operate exclusively on alternative fuels. Especially pleasant is the fact that Ukrainian scientists have developed a technology to produce ethanol from sugar beet.
The participants discussed the state strategy of energy saving and energy security; development and implementation of renewable energy projects; ways to overcome the obstacles in the implementation of bioenergy potential of Ukraine. A lively discussion ensued the problem of "green energy" markets and financial support to investment projects in the field of alternative energy.
Therefore, such activities as this roundtable, are interesting and useful, because they form a new vision of the problems and prospects of the "green energy" in Ukraine and motivate young people to seek innovative approaches to the use of biological resources for the benefit of our state.
