The annual rating of higher education institutions of Ukraine "Compass 2013" was published. The National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" became again an undisputable leader.
The aim of the rating is an objective assessment and informing the public about the quality of training in higher educational institutions of Ukraine. The main criterion for assigning the university to appropriate rating position are preferences and satisfaction with the given knowledge and skills by graduates and employers. The project is initiated and financed by "System Capital Management" and Rinat Akhmetov's Fund "Development of Ukraine".
During the studies, conducted in the winter and this spring, representatives of 843 employer companies and 331 experts-companies were surveyed, and 1202 graduates of Ukrainian universities. Participants of the rating were 239 universities, that educate bachelors, specialists and masters in "Business Economics", “Architecture-Construction", "Law", "IT" and "Technical Engineering Professios".
Graduates evaluated their university help in employment search, level of satisfaction with the quality of given knowledge and skills, and opportunity to use this knowledge in their work. Employers evaluated to what extent the graduates’ skills meet the requirements of their company and the effectiveness of the universities’ cooperation with them.
The representatives’ replies of the surveyed groups were multiplied on a special rate, which reflected their importance for the final ranking score. For employers’ answers it was 0.31, for the experts - 0.29, for graduates - 0.1. The sum of all ratings came to total score, which determined the place of the university in the rating.
The first place in the general rating was traditionally taken by the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" (98 points), the second - Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (65 points), the third - Kyiv National Economic Vadym Hetman University named (50 points).
