Independent accreditation center for engineering programs, founded by the Rectors Association of technical educational establishments of Ukraine, became the member of European Accreditation Network of Engineering Education.
In November, 21-22, 2016 a jubilee session of European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE) devoted to 10th anniversary since the date of foundation took place in Rome (Italy).
A delegation from Ukraine of the head of Rectors Association of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine, rector of NTUU "Igor Sikorsky KPI", academician of Ukrainian NAS, M.Z. Zgurovskyi, director of Center of independent accreditation of engineering programs B. I. Duda and the president of Union of scientific and engineering associations of Ukraine, M.M. Kiriukhin took part in session work.
The first day of the work was devoted to the discussion of the main foundations that ensure the quality of engineering education. In particular, the representative of European Commission, Doctor Simon Roy stressed in his speech on the importance of independent accreditation system implementation as one of the tools for high qualified specialists training. Speeches delivered by the president of European Federation of national engineering associations, professor Vieira, general secretary of European Council of construction chambers, Claus Turedl, representative of International engineering alliance (USA), professor Hanrahan and other session participants related to the ways of current accreditation system improvement. Besides, directors of national accreditation centers of Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Belgium and other European countries shared their working experience in their countries.
The second day of General Assembly of ENAEE session was devoted to organizational issues. One of the issues was the issue of making Center of independent accreditation of engineering programs founded by the Rectors Association of higher technical educational establishments of Ukraine a part of this organization. The decision was taken unanimously.
Technical universities of Ukraine will get an opportunity to implement accreditation of engineering programs according to European standards and engineering education quality assessment criteria.
