The pioneer of astronautics S.P. Korolev lifelong dreamed of the sky, the stars and the cosmos. His name is associated with milestones in our history. Therefore FASS decided to honor the anniversary of the great scientist, in particular, visiting the museums in Zhitomir.
The idea of a such trip was born long ago, but for a long time it could not manage to bring together the desires and opportunities. Finally, thanks to the joint efforts of the administration of the Faculty, Student Council, students and enthusiasts, we organized this trip.
The city for most of us was unknown, so we started with an introduction to its architecture and places. By the way, there are very original buildings: the modern facilities are located next to the houses of the past (before last) century. Both objects that we were interested in - Zhitomir Space Museum and the House-Museum of Sergei Korolev - were opposite each other.
Space Museum made a strong impression on us. Layouts satellites, spacecraft elements, components and assemblies, lunar soil, spacesuits of astronauts, food samples - it was something new, we first directly "touched" to our future profession, saw what knew only from books. These feelings are beyond words ... The guide told us a lot of interesting facts from the history of space exploration, the outstanding personalities industry, etc., promised that the next time will show footage of the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
After the tour, we made a collective photo at the monument to S.P. Korolev mounted on one of the main squares of the city. Zhytomyr is rightly proud of its outstanding countryman!
We decided that a trip to Zhitomir - is just the beginning of our acquaintance with our future profession, and the next time we organize a trip to other places of interest of our country, on the flagship companies of the industry.
* * *
As a child, I often had to pass through Zhitomir. Since then the city associated with the bus station and passenger rush. Since December 17 my attitude changed dramatically.
... After a short bus ride we walk through the streets of another city, trying to learn something new and interesting. First we went to the Museum of Cosmonautics named after S.P. Korolev, and then - in the house where he lived.
So the museum. The first thing that struck - this is his originality, very creative design. The museum has two missile - P-1 and P-12. Inside there are many exhibits, models, drawings, photographs - all of extravaganza exposure. The guide was speaking, and I sank into thought and accomplishment of new knowledge already acquired.
. The task of the designer was not only to find the optimal solution to the problem of building the satellite, spacecraft, but also consider the symbolism of the first inventions of this kind. Shape of the satellite, the man behind the wheel of the spacecraft - all was perfectly balanced and thoughtful.
The museum displays many interesting exhibits. There is a lander spacecraft "Soyuz-27", which had been in space, container for scientific instruments on geophysical rockets, the lander automatic interplanetary station "Venera-15" layout (1: 1) Sputnik "Oreol 3" for the study of Earth's magnetic field and the aurora borealis, the layout "Lunokhod-2" (1: 1), the layout of the automatic interplanetary station "Luna-9" (1: 2), a spectrograph to photograph the shortwave band of the solar spectrum, satellite magnetometer series "Electron", the spacesuit, which was used in flight by the astronaut Yu.P.Artyuhin. There were exhibited the models of the rockets "Cyclone-3" and "Zenith". Interestingly, when the museum layouts were made, the used material should be different from original. So in case of theft on cannot declassify the composition.
... Food in tubes. "Cookies" Russian "," "Bread table", "Pickle", "coffee with milk", "Prunes with nuts", "Cheese". Hmm, it looks good, even after 20 years.
For a long we stood near the lander spacecraft "Vostok". His weight - 2.46 tone, diameter - 2.3 m. The purpose of the ship was to study the influence of orbital flight on the condition and performance of the astronaut; research related to auditing principles of the space ship; processing structures and systems of it.
As opposite Space Museum it looks like the family home of the S.P. Korolev. Over a hundred years there is little that remained, the interior has been restored by the stories of neighbors. Armchairs, beds, clocks, tables ... But in this ordinary house there lived the person who opened the way mankind into space. We have passed the rooms, listened to stories of guides about events in the life of Sergei Pavlovich within these walls and outside them. There are plaster moldings on the wall: bas Korolev and his words: "There are no barriers of human thought."
House… Museum ... Two rockets… Monument in the center, "Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, the outstanding scientist, creator of the first spacecraft" ... No, certainly now I don’t associate Zhitomir with the station and waiting. Now for me it is a city where space is nearby.
