The spring semester has started in the normal mode. Schedules of studies have been drawn up in advance.
The debts of the fall semester session have been eliminated. The session was held as planned. Unfortunately, some students were expelled.
"Despite the difficult situation, we must not forget about the quality of education," said Oleksiy Zhuchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of KPI.
"In general, 89 percent of all students successfully passed the session - either the main session or by heroically fighting to eliminate debts. About 30 students have been reinstated after being expelled, and about the same number have come out of academic leave. The result is slightly worse than the previous year, as the remote mode adds to the stress. Students lack self-organization: many do not understand that everything needs to be done on time, they cannot calculate time - and this is a global problem. We often explain that if a student has a problem during the first calendar control, it should be solved in October and November, not at the end of January. A certain number of people realize that they are out of place and leave of their own accord. But we managed," says Tetiana Khyzhnyak, Head of the KPI's Department of Educational Work.
As for the students who stayed abroad, some of them took advantage of the right to a sabbatical. Those who were studying in a distance mode for certain educational components were able to pass the session in full.
Among the changes that await students this semester: an increase in the number of face-to-face classes by almost two times - about 660 against 350 last semester. This is possible due to the development of a network of shelters, and thus an increase in campus space.
"The new semester will be characterized by an increase in the number of face-to-face classes, an increase in the number of students on campus within the limits of what the development of shelters certified by the SES allows us to do. With the development of the network of shelters, the number of students on campus and the number of educational components that are delivered in full-time education are growing," - Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of KPI Oleksiy Zhuchenko.
Pre-graduation practice at enterprises and institutions for 4th year students will also be held in full-time mode. The total number of students who will be enrolled in full-time education should reach about 10 thousand.
