The state's status in the modern world is determined by its scientific and technical level and ability for technological development. And materials science itself is currently one of the priorities of scientific progress. Alumni of the Department of Physical Materials Science and Heat Treatment (PMSHT) of the Y. O. Paton Educational and Research Institute of Materials Science and Welding are capable of conquering scientific, innovative and commercial peaks. Today, they are successfully working in the field of high technologies at the intersection of materials science, computer science, medicine and biology.

Young scientists of the PMSHT department, having mastered expertise and practical skills, multiply the achievements of the new scientific direction, started by Professor Yaroslav Zaulychnyy in 2009, successfully. Their work is covered in the world's leading specialized magazines and tried out at all-Ukrainian and international conferences and forums.

“It is necessary to teach in a modern and interesting way, - Yurii Yavorsky, Ph.D., the associate professor of the Department of Physical Materials Science and Heat Treatment, is convinced. - You shouldn't be afraid of the unknown, you need to take everything that life gives you. The main thing is to start, and then, if you give a hundred and ten percent, you can achieve success in any business," - the scientist believes. So his professional growth is an example of such diligence and purposefulness.

Young Yura Yavorsky got involved in scientific work while studying at the Faculty of Physics and Technology of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. There he was attracted by the educational program "Nanosystem Physics". In 2012, the young man completed a master's degree with honors and acquired the qualification of a teacher of Physics. The same year, he embarked on postgraduate studies at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and as soon as in 2016 he passed Ph.D. defense at the Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and received the scientific degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

Admit it, a lot of domestic educational and scientific institutions would prefer to invite a promising scientist. But Yurii Vasyliovych liked the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute with its many years of history and powerful research and academic base. Yurii Yavorsky began his academic work as an assistant at the Department of Physical Materials Science and Heat Treatment in 2015. Gaining experience, he moved up the promotional ladder calmly and confidently: in 2017, he moved to the position of a senior lecturer, and in 2018 to an associate professor. Currently, he delivers lectures, gives laboratory classes and practical studies on courses "Interatomic interaction and material properties", "Airspace materials science", "Standardization, metrology and quality control of products" and others. It should be noted that the courses "Aerospace material science", "Biomaterials and biocompatibility" and others are taught in English.
In 2017 the lecturer published three manuals to provide the educational process, and in 2021 he published the textbook “Condensed-matter Physics: for Materials Scientists" in co-authorship with Professor Yaroslav Zaulychnyy. An interesting initiative of the young scientist was the creation and promotion of an educational project on the YouTube channel "Math. is simple" (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClcevelTnjMp4xMvyJhr6FjA) "in the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic".

"Filmed and edited videos on the topics of classes, - says Yurii Yavorsky, - are an important and useful component of students' education." It's clear, because they help to immerse yourself in the exciting world of research, structural-morphological features of metals, composites and polymers, correlations between these features and material properties. "They will also be interesting," - the author continues, - "for curious schoolchildren, lyceum students, who then visit the IMZ Welcome Days, ask questions, see over the laboratories, and perform simple experiments." And he adds with hidden pride: "Such acquaintances broaden the outlook of young researchers, help them choose their future specialty. And later they come to study at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute."

Undoubtedly, successful teaching activity should be based on the results of scientific research. Yurii Vasyliovych Yavorsky's scientific interests relate to the field of obtaining composites based on nanosized oxides Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2, Fe2O3 and some biomaterials and the possibility of their use as the basis of electrode materials for lithium power sources. He repeatedly participated in the state-financed works as a senior researcher and a principal investigator. The results of his research were published in more than 50 publications.

In addition, Yurii Yavorsky has been the scientific secretary since 2019, and since 2022 - the chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the Y. O. Paton Educational and Research Institute of Materials Science and Welding. In 2018-2021, he was a member of the jury of the Materials Science Section of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, was a member of the jury of the all-Ukrainian scientific and technical competition "ECO-TECHNO Ukraine 2020" and the all-Ukrainian student competition in the specialty "Physics and Astronomy". According to the results of 2019-2021, he became the winner of the university competition "Young Research Teaching Fellow" three times. Last year, he became a nominee of the Young Scientist of the Year competition according to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in three nominations: "Physics and Astronomy", "Young Methodist of the Year in the Field of Physical and Mathematical Sciences" and "YouTube for Science" and a scholarship holder of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for young scientists as the author of important scientific and technical developments.

Today's realities push for action, everyone gets in on the act. Like hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians, the young scientist believes in the thumping victory of Ukraine in the fight against the occupier. Yurii Yavorsky is actively involved in volunteering to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
