On this day, October 10, 1899, Dmytro Ludvyhovych Tomashevych was born. He was a graduate of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, brilliant Soviet aircraft designer, chief designer of rockets.

In 1925, Dmytro Tomashevych developed the light airplane KPIR-5 as the graduation project. After a successful thesis statement in 1926, he worked at the Rempovitria-6 aircraft repair plant, where an airplane was built according to his design.

After the death of Valery Chkalov during a trial flight in December 1938, Tomashevych was arrested as the leading designer of the I-180 fighter. While in prison, he worked at the Central Design Bureau No. 29 of the NKVD on the #110 and Pegasus projects.
