On May 5, an online meeting was held between the Rector of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Michael Zgurovsky and the co-founder of the Ukrainian-Polish Center, Vice-President of the International Expert Ranking Group for Universities (IREG), Waldemar Siwinski.
The parties discussed how to save the scientific and educational community of Ukraine from the crisis and how to act to make Ukrainian science visible in Europe and actively involved in international programs.
Michael Zgurovsky thanked Polish colleagues for the support of Ukrainian students and scientists who left for Poland, and highlighted that we need to focus on more systematic cooperation between the countries now.
"We are very concerned that our scientific schools may weaken or even perish, and some of them are really competitive at European and global level,” - Zgurovsky noted.
He invited Mr. Siwinski and his foundation to become partners in a number of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute research projects. The rector stressed that Kyiv Polytechnic today urgently needs communication with European scientific schools and universities, as well as expert advice to participate in European programs.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation for this purpose and came to an arrangement upon the next steps.
"Our Polish friends will soon develop a system of assistance to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and then this system will be used in other Ukrainian universities," - summed up the Vice-Rector of International Relations Sergii Sydorenko.
