Dear staff and students of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute! On this day in 1919, the Act of Unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic into one state was proclaimed on Sofia Square in Kyiv. The original dream of the Ukrainian people to revive an indivisible and independent state has come true. We honor this event and are proud of the heroes of that time.
When we talk about the unity of the state, we mean its territorial integrity. However, the unity and territorial integrity of the state is based primarily on the system of moral consolidating values of citizens and their belief in belonging to a single nation. It is a personal responsibility for each individual and society in general. It is the desire for continuous development and spiritual enrichment and a willingness to resist the threat of encroachment on these values.
Unfortunately, the state proclaimed in 1919 needs protection a hundred years later. And even in today's developed, civilized world declaring peaceful and democratic existence Ukrainians pay a high price for the territorial integrity, national unity, unity, and freedom of their country.
We remember our history and honor our heroes. We care for and defend the unity and sovereignty of our state and the people of Ukraine. We are steadily making progress.
