On March 23, 2021, the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine approved Order № 610 concerning the professional standard for “Teachers of higher education institutions”. A working group consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, higher education institutions, and the international expert community prepared the standard. The British Council in Ukraine examined the professional standard draft.
According to the National Classifier of Ukraine DK 003: 2010 “Classifier of professions” the group of standards includes: Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, and Assistant. The standard defines the base conditions for admission to work as a teacher of higher education institutions, a list of documents confirming his vocational and educational qualifications, general must-have competencies for such a specialist, a list of his job functions, and others.
A professional standard is a tool for systematization of skills, training of young professionals, self-assessment and evaluation of teachers of higher education institutions, vocational development. The Ministry of Education and Science recommends using this professional standard in developing requirements for the positions of research and teaching staff, educational and research programs of the second and third levels of higher education, training and internship programs for research and teaching staff, planning vocational development of teachers.
Therefore, Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute will consider the standard provisions in the job descriptions of research and teaching staff and the evaluation of teachers in their rankings.
