On May 26, 2021, a delegation of Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications named after Gumarbek Daukeev visited Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Among the delegates were Rector Saule Sagintayeva and Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation Almaz Saukhimov. Adviser to the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine Arnur Tanbay and People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, member of the inter-parliamentary group for cooperation with Kazakhstan Serhii Nahorniak took part in organizing and holding the meeting. Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Serhii Sydorenko, Head of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Networks of the ITS, Professor Larysa Hloba, Head of the Organizing Office of International Activities Alla Kovtun, and others met the guests.
Serhii Sydorenko gave a short tour of the University for the delegation members. The guests also saw the exhibits of the DIR. In particular, they visited the Department of Aviation History and Cosmonautics and got interested in the exhibition related to the history of the Baikonur Cosmodrome and the innovations of the University scientists.
During the meeting, the guests found out about the history and modern developments of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Saule Sagintayeva addressed the meeting participants and remarked that it was the first time they had been to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. She and the delegation were impressed by its history and fundamentality, where everything is imbued with the academic spirit, innovation, and science. Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications (AUPET) is significantly younger than Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. It is only 45 years old, but it is one of the leading universities in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It trains specialists in power engineering, telecommunications, IT technologies, space engineering, robotics, and others at three higher education levels. The parties discussed opportunities for exchanging scientific information and publications; student and teacher mobility; participating in joint research and projects of mutual concern. The meeting members also signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
Serhii Nahorniak spoke about the positive expectations from this meeting, “Thanks to joint actions, students and scientists of the best universities of the two countries will be able to exchange experiences and work for development.”
Saule Sagintayeva expressed interest in cooperating with such a compelling research and education center as Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. She also expressed confidence that it would be mutually beneficial. “The main areas of cooperation,” she said, “are power engineering, telecommunications, space engineering, and technology. And another important area today is the information security system. Because all strategic objects, of course, must be protected.”
At the same time, Serhii Sydorenko said that Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute is ready to share with AUPET the experience of the Sikorsky Challenge ecosystem. Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute assists in implementing the innovation ecosystem model in Kazakhstan with the help of AUPET. “The development of the innovation in international cooperation begins now, with the signing today memorandum. These are new projects, new challenges, new promising innovation technologies attractive for both our country and the Republic of Kazakhstan,” he said.
