During a visit to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which took place on January 23, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey in Ukraine Yağmur Ahmet Güldere introduced Halyuk Bayraktar, Director General of Baykar Makina, to the university staff.
The purpose of this visit, according to the head of the Turkish diplomatic mission in Ukraine, was to discuss the possibility of cooperation between Baykar Makina and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Therefore, Halyuk Bayraktar spoke in detail about the company and its inventions (it is world-famous and the largest Turkish manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles) and offered his vision of possible cooperation. Being the top manager of a company that specializes in the development and manufacture of drones, he is primarily interested in carrying out joint researches and structural design work on the creation of engines and various equipment for aircraft. In addition, of course, Bayraktar is interested in the possibility of training specialists based on the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute to work in the company and at its requests.
Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Mykhailo Ilchenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Serhii Sydorenko, Director of the Institute of Aerospace Technologies of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute Ivan Korobko, Deputy Vice-Rector for Research Yuri Sydorenko and others. The negotiators concluded that the most effective model for the development of full-scale cooperation between Baykar Makina and the university could be the creation of a joint R@D (i.e. research and design) center based on the university. Moreover, they considered the idea of implementation of a dual education program at Institute for Aerospace Technologies, following the example of a program implemented at the Institute of Mechanical Engineering in conjunction with the company “Progrestech-Ukraine.”
In conclusion, the participants agreed to draft proposals on the terms of cooperation and its specific areas and after the reconcilement to sign the relevant agreement.
