The visit took place on September 11. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Ukraine Andre Johannes Groenewald visited Kyiv Polytechnic for the first time since President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy had recently entertained his credentials - at the end of July this year. The adviser of the Embassy on Economy and Tourism Oleksandr Okhrimenko accompanied the new head of the diplomatic mission of South Africa in Ukraine.
The Vice-Rector for International Relations of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Member of NAS of Ukraine Serhiy Sidorenko, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations Yevgeniy Polishchuk and others met with the guests. The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of establishing and developing cooperation between the university and higher education institutions of the Republic of South Africa. Among the most promising plans in this area were the training of specialists and joint research into nuclear energy, including in the field of physical nuclear safety; cooperation in space technologies, first of all, in the implementation of university satellite projects; joint work in the field of water purification and technology development of the 4th Industrial Revolution and more. During the communication, Serhiy Sidorenko suggested organizing consultations on specific directions and projects of cooperation, which specialists of the respective profile could take part in.
Finally, a campus tour was held for Andre Johannes Groenewald and Oleksandr Okhrimenko.
