On March 19 Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute was visited by the delegation of National Tsinghua University and the CNNC China Zhongyuan Engineering Corp. company (People's Republic of China).
Guests examined the university campus and got acquainted with expositions of the State Polytechnical Museum at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. After that, representatives of several divisions of the university met them. The pro-rector of educational and cultural affairs Petro Kyrychok, the head of the department of external economic affairs Andriy Shysholin, the CEO of the scientific park “Kyivska Polytechnika” Volodymyr Gnat, the first deputy dean of heat-and-power faculty Evgen Shevel,the deputy dean of heat-and-power faculty responsible for international affairs Olena Nekrashevych and others participated in the meeting.
Participants of the meeting discussed issues of development of cooperation. 20 institutes with 58 faculties work at the Tsinghua university, including very powerful technical and engineering faculties. Among them - engineering and physical institute, which includes the faculty of nuclear power and new power technologies. Opportunities and potential of cooperation of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in training of specialists for nuclear power with this institute and its partner – the CNNC China Zhongyuan Engineering Corp. company, were also discussed during the meeting.
Cooperation of National Tsinghua University and China Zhongyuan Engineering Corp. is carried out within the international program of training of specialists – nuclear scientists TUNEM(TSINGHUA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL MASTER'S PROGRAM IN NUCLEAR ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT). The program provides financing of studying, accommodation and scholarship for students all over the world within two years. The six months’ internship at one of the Chinese nuclear power plants is also included. Over fifty students from 15 countries have studied and study in scopes of this program. It is expected, that about 30 more young people, who have a bachelor degree or graduate specialty at the bachelor degree, have to join it this year.
Representatives of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute told the Chinese colleagues about programs of the double diploma, which are implemented at the university, including those in the field of nuclear power, and about an opportunity to establish the similar program with National Tsinghua University.
The visit of the Chinese educators and representatives of the power industry came to the end with the presentation of National Tsinghua University and the international program TUNEM for its potential participants – students of heat-and-power faculty.
