Grant of the President of Ukraine to support scientific research of young scientists in 2018 was appointed to Igor Vladimirskyi, candidate in physical science, Associate Professor of the Department of Metal Physics of IFF, working in the field of thin film material science, investigating the patterns of the diffusion formation of the structure and phase composition and the properties of various technically-relevant modern metallic nanoscale materials.

Grant received a young scientist is aimed at conducting a study “Low-temperature formation of magnetic gradient nanosized materials based on FePt”. The urgency of the work is due to the fact that nanoparticles based on FePt are promising materials for the creation of magnetic recording media recorders with ultrahigh density. They have a number of unique magnetic properties, in particular, very high ratio of magnetic anisotropy and coercive force. At the same time, for the industrial use of these films, it is necessary to solve a number of physical and material problems, for example, the formation of the necessary orderly structure of the material at low processing temperatures. As a result of the scientific research, the researcher proposed a fundamentally new approach to low-temperature formation of the ordered structure of FePt films – through controlled diffusion processes in complex multilayer film compositions with additional layers of alloying elements.

In 2018, I. Vladimirskyi also received a scholarship from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to, in 2014 – a letter of the NAS of Ukraine for the best scientific work among young scientists.

He has repeatedly held research internships at leading world research centers working in the field of thin film materials science at the Department of Solid-State Physics at the University of Debrecen (Hungary), at the Department of Surface Physics and the University of Hemnitz University National Institute of Materials Science, Tsukuba (Japan) and others. I. Vladimirskyi is the head co-director of the international project “Cold Homogenization of FePt-Coated Thin Films, Stimulated by Diffusion Processes”, funded by the German Research Society (DFG) and carried out jointly with the Department of Experimental Physics at the University of Augsburg (Germany).

In general, he co-authored more than 20 scientific articles in professional journals, including 12 in foreign journals with a high impact factor (Journal of Applied Physics, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, Vacuum, Applied Surface Science, Thin Solid Films, and etc.), has 4 patents for utility models. He is a co-author of the monograph “Diffusion formation of nanosized magnetic materials based on FePt” (I.A. Vladimirskyi, Yu.M. Makogon, S.I. Sidorenko, 2017) and a co-author of the textbook “Physical properties and methods of research of materials” (V.V. Kholiavko, I.A. Vladimirskyi, O.O. Zhabinskaya, 2016).

Currently, the scientist is working on a doctoral thesis devoted to low-temperature formation of nanosized high-order ferromagnetic materials. He has many discoveries and significant results ahead. Let’s wish him luck on this difficult, but such an interesting and important path.
