On January 22, our country celebrates the Day of National Unity of Ukraine.
The eternal dream of the Ukrainian people to revive their conciliar, indivisible and independent state has deep historical roots. On this day, the hundredth anniversary of the proclamation of IV Universal of the Ukrainian Central Rada of Independence is celebrated. A year later (on January 22, 1919), an equally important event took place on the Sofia Square in Kyiv. It was the proclamation of the Act of Union of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Western Ukrainian People's Republic into one state.
Unfortunately, the lack of national unity, the spotlight of the interests of leaders led in the early twentieth century. to the loss of statehood. The country went the way to its revival. Millions of Ukrainian lives were taken by the famines, repressions, World War II.
We have been living in an independent country recognized by the world for more than 25 years, but the lessons of history should remind us that national unity is not only a basic value, but also an indispensable condition for resisting external aggression.
Now the Ukrainian patriots defend not only independence, but also the national unitiy of Ukraine.
