On the day of the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first artificial satellite of the Earth - October 4, 2017 - a roundtable on this remarkable event took place in the session hall of the Academic Council of the KPI.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research of the Igor Sikorsky KPI academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine M.U. Ilchenko, the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine, the president of Aerospace Commodity of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine Leonid Kadenyuk, the head of the Central Council of Veterans of the Baikonur Cosmodrome of Ukraine, head of the Aviation and Cosmonautics History Depatment DPM at KPI, honoured space technology tester Oleksandr Boltenko, advisor to the chairman of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, Eduard Kuznetsov, Chairman of the Interregional Organization of Veterans of Strategic Missile Forces (RVSP), Major General Mykola Filatov, Deputy Head of Complexation for Development of Sighting Systems at CKB "Arsenal"" Vasily Opanasenko, chairman of the Board of the Public Coordination Committee "Kharkiv Rocket and Space" Gennadiy Tupalo, head of the UMA Board O "Constellation" Oleg Petrov, veterans of Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kapustin Yar, Plesetsk, RVSP students Igor Sikorsky KPI, cadets, students, members of the youth organization "Constellation".
The vice-principal on the research work of Igor Sikorsky KPI Mikhail Ilchenko congratulated on the 60th anniversary of the epochal event of the 20th century - launching into space of the first artificial satellite of the Earth - and briefly described the historical significance of this event.
Representatives of cosmodromes, space veterans, students, students of secondary Korolev school number 36 and representatives of the youth organization " Constellation " laid flowers at the monument to S.P. Korolev.
Participants of the meeting reviewed a short documentary about the creation and launch of the first human-made satellite of the Earth.
Deputy Director of the IME Igor Sikorsky KPI Yaroslav Lavrenko briefly told about what preceded a satellite launch - the works of K. E. Tsiolkovsky, experiments on the creation of missiles in different countries, the work of S.P. Korolev.
Advisor to the chairman of the DSAU Eduard Kuznetsov spoke about the activities of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, which was established in 1992 and this year celebrated its 25th anniversary. During this time, the agency has completed five programs, participated in the preparation of a hundred and forty launches of carrier rockets and 370 spacecraft in cooperation with 25 countries. In addition, about 550 spacecrafts from different countries used equipment made in Ukraine. And in 2017, the Agency participated in the preparation of six launches of carrier rockets.
Leonid Kadenyuk told about his way to space, on which he stepped in his school years when he decided to become an astronaut. For this, he studied fine and intensively did sports. Then there was the Chernihiv Aviation College, a military aviation service, a rigorous selection of astronauts, when from more than 3 thousand volunteers, selected 9, intensive training and studying, work as a tester-pilot of military aircrafts. He also spoke about his impressions of the space flight.
The head of the laboratory of nanosatellite technologies of Igor Sikorsky KPI Boris Rassamakin made a report on development of nanosatellites in our university. Two of these – "PolyITAN-1" і "PolyITAN-2-SAU" – are now in orbits, and the first is more than three years there (estimated for one). Scientists, engineers, graduate students and students of our university today receive information from these satellites and are working to create new ones.
Deputy Head of the Arsenal CKB Complex Department, Honored Machine Builder of Ukraine Vasyl Opanasenko made a report on the participation of CKB "Arsenal" in the development of sighting systems for rocket-space technology.
Gennady Tupalo, Chairman of the Board of the Public Coordinating Committee "Kharkiv Rocket and Space", told about the participation of DPP "Komunar" in the creation of control systems for rocket and space technology.
The last one was the report of the Associate Professor of the Faculty of Aviation and Space Systems of Igor Sikorsky KPI Volodymyr Fedorov about the K. E. Ciolkovsky plan for the space exploration which consisted from 16 sub-paragraphs. The first point in this plan was the creation of a rocket aircraft, the last - the resettlement of humanity along the Milky Way and the extinction of the Sun. The speaker stressed that the first 8 points of the plan have already been implemented.
After completing the reports Alexander Boltenko and Leonid Kadenyuk handed veterans medals and diplomas.
In the closing speech, vice-principal Mikhail Ilchenko summed up the meeting.
