Six more trees appeared on the alley of Sakura that has been recently planted Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute campus on the occasion of the Year of Japan in Ukraine.
Each of these trees is special since they were bought and planted by particular people or organizations. One of them was planted by rector of the university, academician of Ukrainian NAS, Mykhailo Zgurovsky, second by first pro-rector, academician of Ukrainian NAS Yurii Yakymenko, third by the head of Kyiv local organization of trade Union of workers of education and science of Ukraine, Oleksandr Yatsun, fourth by the member of Supervisory Board of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute, Bohdan Andriitsev, fifth - on behalf of members of trade union of university workers, the head professional committee Vitalii Molchanov, sixth by fellow workers of Ukrainian and Japan center of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute.
Thus, this alley has 16 Sakura trees. However, it is quite early too finish with decoration of the university campus with Japanese cherry trees. "We will not finish on this and will continue finding places to plant this wonderful trees on", Mykhailo Zgurovsky noted.
It is well known fact that Sakura is one of the main symbols of Japan. Sakura trees and flowers are portrayed on color prints and paintings, they are embroidered on clothing, poems and songs are devoted to them, and they are depicted on dishes. Since 1992 this country celebrates the Day of Sakura blossoming. Perhaps, such a holiday but surely on less scale will be celebrated in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute in two or three years, since Sakura with its tender rose flowers excites people regardless the place it grows in.
