Students carried out green works on the territory of Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kiev

On the Saturday morning of March 18th, 15 students in ІІІ year in Institute of Special Communication and Information Protection of National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" were doing the unusual for them thing – greening the territory of National natural reserve "Saint Sophia Cathedral". This environment action was organized on the initiative of Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments in accordance with the "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" board. Students’ involvement in reserve’s territory cleaning is the first step to the establishment of constant communication between the students and the Cathedral. The latter provides the students of the Polytechnic an opportunity to participate in the outlined global events, which will be carried out in the natural reserve.

Direct move’s organizators became the members of the association – Liudmyla Hryhorivna Molochna and Valentyna Hryhorivna Reva. It is worth mentioning that these energetic women have already experience attracting the KPI students to such noble actions as greening the areas of Lukianivskoho memorial cemetry last year. This place was chosen purposefully. There the university professors and scientists were buried.

After the students carried out the huge scope of work, they were invited to a free excursion on the Saint Sophia Cathedral premises. As one of the participants, Andrii Zadorozhnyi, states, he and his friends were having a great time participating in the greening campaign and would be waiting for the new offers.
