In May, 17 in scientific and technical library of NTUU “KPI” there was a regular art evening - one of the cultural and educational events devoted to famous people of history and culture.
As it was mentioned above, Valentyna Sapronova was the organizer and narrator of such events, whose activity was connected with Kyiv Polytechnic Institute for many years. The subject of the last event was dedicated to Ivan Franko’s life and art, 160 years from day of his birth and 100 year anniversary of his death.
Valentyna told about main milestones of famous Ukrainian’s biography, described dramatic events of his life. Ivan Franko is known to be outstanding poet, novelist and playwright. His poems and prose are read and researched by many generations of our compatriots. His poems “Rockbreakers”, “Eternal revolutionary” became classic within his life, alluring composers with its spirit and rhythmic. And his play “Stolen Happiness” is a glory of repertoires in the best theatres in Ukraine for 2 years. The poem “Moses” with its philosophy delights thousands of researchers-theorists of literature, philosophers, historians and thoughtful readers.
However, Franko’s activity was slightly complex: he is rightfully known to be the scientist, ethnographer, folklorist, historian, philosopher, sociologist, economist, journalist, translator, public figure…
In his works of philosophic and social-political direction Ivan Franko raised the issues, which were relevant not only for his time, but for the future generations of Ukrainians, in whose success and good fortune he sincerely believed.
That art event was attended by a Franko’s grandson Roland Franko, who made presentation and thanked the participants for honoring the memory of his grandfather and warm welcome.
