In March, 3 in NTUU “KPI” the memorandum of scientific and technical cooperation of Innovative and productive association “Kyiv polytechnic” was signed between Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and government enterprise “Ukroboronprom”, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov.
Rector of NTUU “KPI”, academician of Ukrainian NAS Mykhailo Zgurovskyi signed the memorandum on behalf of “Kyiv polytechnic” association, Minister of Defense of Ukraine – General of the Army, Stepan Poltorak – on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and chief executive officer, Roman Romanov on behalf of “Ukroboronprom”.
The ceremony of memorandum endorsement was preceded by the series of presentations in the Center of innovative ventures of university. Scientists of NTUU “KPI” and the executives of enterprises who are the members of “Kyiv polytechnic” association presented the projects of new technical equipment and armature that are under development and have already been implemented into production on the basis of engineering capacity of this scientific and productive platform.
It was Mykhailo Zgurovskyi who started the meeting with the executives of power structures and military industrial sector of Ukraine; he spoke on Innovative and productive association “Kyiv polytechnic”, its purpose of creation and operational principle.
It is worth to remind that “Kyiv polytechnic” was created in the end of spring, 2015. NTUU, “KPI”, Scientific Park “Kyiv polytechnic” as well as a series of enterprises of “Ukroboronprom” and state-owned space agency of Ukraine became members of the association. The purpose of its activity is to provide the development and realization of new and advanced projects in continuous cycle as well as the production of modern products of defensive character, in particular, necessary for our country.
Some of these products were reported by their designers to the members of the meeting. Particularly, the chief of the Board of Directors of the association, head of department of OJSC “Merydian” after S. P. Koroliov, Viachyslav Protsenko spoke on the industrial commercialization of first national unmanned aircraft vehicles and the development of their designs for various applications. The managers of power structures familiarized themselves with the projects of robotic engineering platform for military application (the dean of the Faculty of Space and Aircraft Systems, Oleksandr Zbrutskyi spoke on this issue), production of sniper rifle, light mortar and modernization of Mosin rifle to the level of sniper rifle (chief executive officer of PJSC “Maiak” Oleksandr Peregudov and the manager of the project, deputy of director of “Politeko-aero” Ltd, Oleksandr Ostapenko), production relocation of belts and tracks for track-type vehicles in Ukraine (Ph.D candidate of Mechanical Engineering Institute of NTUU “KPI”, Yurii Sydorenko), development of technologies of composite armor for individual protective equipment, units of equipage and additional protection of military vehicles (associate professor of Engineering and Physical Faculty, Yurii Bogomol), problems of imports phase-out and their solving opportunities for the maintenance and repair of complex military vehicles (deputy director of SE “Ukroboronservis”, Ruslan Matiishen and chief designer of CB “Shtorm” of NTUU “KPI”, Sergii Pukha), creation of systems for detection of unauthorized intrusions into the information and telecommunication networks (director of the Fund of scientific and technical development after V. S. Mykhailevych, Oleksii Beliaiev) and creation of the system of special communication for tactical control link of national production in terms of “Kyiv polytechnic” association (head of telecommunication department of NTUU “KPI”, Leonid Uryvskyi and chairman of the Board of “ELMIZ” plc, Mykola Shumylo).
“At the moment the battle is carried out for the victory not only on the battlefield. The battle is carried out in scientific organizations, design engineering bureaus. The country needs new and modern weapon, powerful weapon that will stop and destroy abusers. This is particular task that we our scientists, designers and managers of defense enterprises have to solve, - the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov concluded. – And this is quite important that today’s event is hold in both Ukraine and world famous Kyiv polytechnic – in university that became not only the first in Ukraine educational establishment, but also powerful scientific center… We have new scientific potential, new radical ideas with experienced producers and consumers in one place. There is one more important task that is being realized in terms of this project. This is the support of young scientists, designers, technical engineers. Their chance to self-realization not abroad but here, in our country… It is important to show young people that they can receive perspectives of scientific and career development here. We have to provide a new paradigm: intelligence – against brutal force”.
After the ceremony of memorandum signing, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Turchynov and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak answered the questions of journalists.
