This year during February and March the students of the Faculty of Heat and Power Energy had an opportunity to listen to lectures and personally communicate with leading experts in their field, who work at universities in Western Europe and the USA. This opportunity came owing to the international course of interactive online-seminars organized by the department of nuclear power stations and engineering thermal physics. They were dedicated to the most topical issues of global energy, to global issues of energy sources and also to new technologies of the effective accumulation, transportation and energy usage.
The audience had the opportunity to listen online to the lectures of experts of leading foreign research institutions, and then discuss them with the lecturers. Lectures where presented by the Head of the European Commission Energy Research Centre Department Luigi Debarberis (Netherlands), Head of Eastern nuclear power projects company “Tecnatom” Antonio Badzhesteros (Spain), Head of the department of thermonuclear fusion from the University of Madrid Jose Manuel Parlado (Spain). As part of the course, students also had the opportunity to talk with the head of helio-center of the research organization NASA (USA) Jan Merk, who gave a fascinating lecture on the mysteries of the solar activity and its effects on our planet, as well as on the latest advances in NASA projects in researches of the Sun.
Seminars were held in a special lecture room in the building of the Faculty of Heat Power Energy, equipped with modern technical facilities. The language of the course was only English. For their realization, European Commission at the first time gave a permission to a higher educational institution in Ukraine to use the internal video system for videoconference.
The course gave students the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest scientific and technical achievements in the world energetics, share a useful experiences, improve their professional level and find new interesting acquaintances!
The seminars are planned to be continued soon with the participation of one of the leaders in the eastern sector of the European Nuclear Regulatory Organization Riskaudit - Michel Shua (France) and a member of the Nuclear Data Department of the International Agency of Atomic Energy, Roberto Capote (MAGATE, Austria). Everyone is welcome!
Vira Bondar, the assistant in the department of nuclear power stations and engineering thermal physics of the Faculty of Heat and Power Energy.
