On November, 26 students and graduates of NTUU "KPI" had the meeting with the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Eduard Stavitskiy and his deputy Andrei Bondarenko.
The meeting began with the speech of Andrei Bondarenko , dedicated to the events of that day concern to most of the Ukrainian society – the prospects of signing by Ukraine the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The common thread running through his speech was the idea of the immutability of foreign policy of our country : the direction in which the country has been moving during last years is the same, in which it is moving now. This is a European direction, and the ultimate goal of this movement is to become a full member of the European Union. According to the forecast of the high-ranking representative, it would take about a decade to complete this way . As we are moving, we will have to solve ambitious goals of modernization of public administration, public and private sectors and others. In order for these processes to be successful , significant costs are required. So the government must clearly see what compensation opportunities can be ensured to Ukraine by European partners, in order to avoid shocking situation in its economy and, especially , falling of social standards. Therefore, as emphasized by Andrei Bondarenko, while remaining true to the European vector of development and at the same time due to geographical proximity and traditional connection with countries of the Customs Union, the governmental authorities have proposed to hold tripartite discussion with the European Union, Russian Federation and Ukraine on the follow-cooperation and its conditions. The spokesman also reported on some features of domestic energy market and answered questions of the participants, Polytechnic students, interested in the prospects of the energy sector after signing by Ukraine the Association Agreement with the European Union , the influence of new conditions on the domestic market functioning and so on.
Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine Eduard Stavitskiy communicated with KPI students in a form of a dialogue, because there were a lot of questions to the Minister.
"The issue of entering or non-entering the Customs Union is not even considered by Government. - The Minister answered to one of the participants. – The Head of the state emphasized that we have one strategic vector, and this vector is European integration . The question of risks is also vital. Unfortunately, they exist. In this regard, the government has concern, and now we are working on the issue how to reduce these risks , we try to find common ground with our European partners. Every participant at his own level is collaborating with colleagues from the EU in order to avoid negative processes in our economy. We expect that we will find the way that will eventually provide access to the signing ... I want to report that a very serious delegation of government officials is leaving tomorrow evening to Vilnius . We will work out all these issues with colleagues from the European Union, and I have hope that we can understand each other and find the compensators discussed recently, the ones that can help to avoid risks that could become a threat after signing the agreement ".
Students also asked the Minister of Fuel and Energy of Ukraine to comment on some reports that appeared on the Internet these last days, and, had the opportunity to hear "with first-hand " reciprocal about the real course of preparation for the signing of the agreement.
There were so many questions that there was not enough time to answer them, so, at the end of the meeting Edward Stavitskiy proposed to create a group of students who could come to the Ministry and continue the conversation.
