In recent years relationships with educational and research institutions in China acquired a new quality, showing an active interest to KPI colleagues from the Middle Kingdom, and significant potential for cooperation and initiating joint projects in many scientific areas continue to rise.
The delegation members, and among them the General Secretary of the municipal government of Huizhou -Wang Sheng, Directors of Office of Science and Information- Fan Chzhyi , Office of Science and Technology - Zou Pinshen, Office of cooperation with foreign trade city - Van Huantszyun, other heads of local authorities , representatives of industry and business and journalists ( total of 34 people!) , after visiting the campus and the State Polytechnic Museum at NTUU "KPI" got acquainted with the activities of the Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" . After there was introduction of the University and its institutes and faculties.
Guests were provided with general information about the university and its international activities, in particular - on cooperation with Chinese colleagues and activities of common structures that are created with NTUU "KPI" and partners in China. Talking about these projects, Pro-Rector of NTUU " KPI" for International Affairs, the Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine Sergey Sidorenko focused on " four principles of strategy ", that should be followed by the University in its cooperation with universities and research centers in China. The first of these principles is the policy of the organization in China strongholds within such cooperation (an example of such structure is a joint Ukrainian -Chinese Centre of NTUU " KPI", the Science Park "Kyiv Polytechnic" and Lyaopinsky Engineering Project Corporation "Leader") , the second principle is the creation of structure of the Chinese University in cooperation with KPI research and training centers (the first center of this kind was opened in Zhejiang University) , the third principle is the creation of China''s strong points for a set of Chinese citizens to study in NTUU "KPI", and the fourth is the intensification of academic exchanges and interpersonal contacts between KPI students and scientists and their Chinese colleagues. Among the perspective directions is the foundation of the Institute of Confucius, which will provide the opportunity to study Chinese language with technical features that in the future will greatly facilitate Ukrainian -Chinese cooperation in the field of the real economy.
In turn , the head of the delegation, the General Secretary of Huizhou City Chen Ivey told about the history, cultural characteristics and economic potential of their city. The city has a population of 4.7 million people and is one of the tourist and at the same time , industrial centers not only in Guangdong province , but in China. Over the last few years, it holds a very high rate of economic development : for example, in 2012 the growth of its GDP reached 12.6%. Leading positions in the city economy are occupied by information technology and petrochemistry. There are also powerful companies in other fields. Huizhou established their production bases over thirty companies that are at the top of the world TOP- 500 enterprises, including corporations «SONY», «LG», «Samsung», «Toshiba», «Shell» and others. An important problem for the city is preparing highly qualified personnel and the development and implementation of new technologies. So a visit to the KPI is a step towards solving these problems and , of course, establishing new partnerships. So Ivey Chen suggested creating of a platform for cooperation with NTUU "KPI", interested in contact with the enterprises of the city ,and invited representatives of the KPI to the international exhibition of information technologies , which will take place in Huizhou, in November.
Having reached an agreement on main principles of establishing the cooperation, participants of negotiation agreed to meet again for discussing specific proposals for its formats, trends and conditions as well as for signing the agreement .
