On February 11, 2013 in the framework of their visit to Ukraine representatives of Canadian universities took part in the seminar "Strengthening the Ukrainian-Canadian higher education partnerships" in the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. This event was organized by the Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine and the Canadian Bureau for International Education. The purpose of this seminar was to promote dialogue between leaders of Ukrainian and Canadian universities. Yevhen Sulima, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine, H.E. Mr. Troy Lulashnyk , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine, Vasyl Kremen, President of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Leonid Huberskiy, Head of the Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine, Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Karen McBride, President of the Canadian Bureau for International Education, took part in the seminar. NTUU "KPI" was represented at the meeting by Deputy Vice-Rector for International Relations Yevhen Polischuk.
The participants of the seminar presented an analysis of their own experience of cooperation, discussed the existing partnerships in higher education between Canada and Ukraine, highlighted possible new model of cooperation, programs and mechanisms which could help to develop this partnership. Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Union of Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions of Ukraine and the Canadian Bureau for International Education; it will help to facilitate Ukrainian-Canadian bilateral relations in the field of higher education and research.
On February 12, 2013 NTUU "KPI" was visited by delegation of Canadian universities, which included representatives of 7 universities: McMaster University, Mount Allison University, University of Calgary, University of New Brunswick, University of Saskatchewan, and University of Winnipeg.
Guests got acquainted with historic part of KPI campus, monuments of scientists, visited Science and Technical Library of the University, as well as exhibitions of the State Polytechnic Museum at NTUU "KPI".
Vice-rector of KPI, Corresponding Member of NAS of Ukraine, Sergei Sidorenko, Deans of faculties, Heads of KPI departments, professors and graduate students had a meeting with representatives of Canadian universities. They discussed opportunities for bilateral cooperation with Canadian counterparts, academic exchanges, and joint research. After short universities presentations there were held consultations between representatives of KPI institutes and departments and Canadian universities on the areas of training and research which coincide with activities of their units.
