On January 29, 2013 in Academic Council Hall of NTUU "KPI" the official opening ceremony of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) project “Promoting the Adaptation and Adoption of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production through the Establishment and Operation of a Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine” and opening of the Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre took place.
In the ceremony M.Z.Zgurovsky, NTUU “KPI” rector, Academician of NAS of Ukraine, H.E. Wolf Dietrich Heim, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in Ukraine, H.E. Christian Schoenenberger, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation in Ukraine, Mr. Guido Beltrani, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Ukraine, Mr. Anatoly Kinakh, Member of Parliament, President of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Mr. Heinz Leuenberger, Director of the UNIDO Environmental Management Department, Mr. Viktor Ivchenko, Deputy Chairman of the State Agency on Science, Innovation and Informatisation of Ukraine, representatives of central executive bodies, industrial enterprises of Ukraine, lecturers and researchers of NTUU “KPI” took part.
UNIDO project "Promoting the Adaptation and Adoption of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production through the Establishment and Operation of a Cleaner Production Centre in Ukraine” was started in 2012 and is supported with funds of the Governments of the Swiss Confederation and the Republic of Austria. The project will last for five years and 20 enterprises of Vinnitsa, Zaporozhye and Kyiv regions, which represent different fields of industry, have already joined the program. Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre is founded by UNIDO, NTUU "KPI", the Science Park "Kyivska Polytechnika" and the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and it will implement the project.
"Creation of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production Centre is very important not only for NTUU "KPI", but also for the whole Ukraine,” said Mykhialo Zgurovsky, Rector of NTUU "KPI", at the opening ceremony. “Because it will play a great role in modernization of its industry and building of modern competitive economy.”
The Center should resolve such task: to enhance the competitiveness of domestic enterprises by decreasing the loss of material and energy in production processes and to reducing the anthropogenic impact on the environment. Mr. Heinz Leuenberger, Director of the UNIDO Environmental Management Department, noted that UNIDO project on Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production opens a way for Ukraine to green and resource saving technologies.
