Since 1932 Naum Pylypovych has casted his lot with Kyiv industrial (later politechnical) institute, where he worked as laboratory assistant, engineer, assistant and assistant professor of radio-technical department. 1941 as the Great Patriotic War began he was transferred to Kyiv radio manufacturing plant. Together with the plant he was evacuated to Ural, where he worked as chief designer of the plant which produced communication equipment for tanks.
Since 1944 to 1980 N.P. Vollerner was the head of self-organized Department of Radio Receiving Equipment (later Department of Signals Reception and Processing), since 1980 due to his age he became the professor and consulting professor of the department.
He combined his training activity on the department with scientific one in the field of radio- and hydro-acoustic technic interference immunity, of random process spectrum analysis, low-noise signal multiplication. 1963-1975 Naum Pylypovych worked as research manager of self-organized hydro-acoustics and interference immunity of radio reception basic research laboratory. Under his department and basic research laboratory supervision a lot of groundbreaking scientific researches and developmental works were carried on and introduced including the works conducted on the resolution of the Council of Ministers of USSR. Over the years of the department existence its staff has grown from 6 to 150 members: lecturers, postgraduate students, research associates, engineers, technicians. For the research and developmental work in defence field the Council of Ministers of USSR decreed to appropriate money for campus building №11 construction. It was put into service in 1963. 1975 the specialist design office “Storm” was merged into his basic research laboratory.
N.P. Vollerner’s scientific activity is defined by wide range of ideas in the fields of reception and signal processing interference immunity, spectrum analysis, error theory, REF (radioelectronic facilities) design. Professor N.P. Vollerner has published more than 300 scientific works, there are 40 inventions, monographs, course books, study guides among them. He trained 69 PhDs, 9 of them have become Doctors of Engineering Science. Professor N.P. Vollerner’s school of science is known and recognized not only in scientific but also in industrial communities. Many of his students are famous scientists and heads of radio-electronic enterprises.
