Sergiy Feofanovich Veselovsky (1878 - date of death unknown) - professor, engineer-economist, rector of the KPI from 1920 to 1921, social and political activist.
Sergiy Feofanovich Veselovskii was born in 1880 in the family of a priest at the Podyl. He was educated at the University of St. Petersburg. He was a member of the Ukrainian community, participated in the student movement. Back in Ukraine he worked as an associate professor of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. He was the part of the Ukrainian community, was a member of a terminology committee of the Institute, has been actively working on the development of Ukrainian technical terminology. March 7, 1917 in Kyiv it was founded the Ukrainian technically agronomic society "Pratsa (Work)", which united Ukrainian scientific and technical intelligentsia and cooperative leaders. S.F. Veselovsky was among its founders and leaders. Ukrainian technically agronomic society " Pratsa " was engaged, in particular, the study and analysis of the state of Ukraine's economy, the development of plans for its development. This area of activity of society just headed by S.F. Veselovsky.
He was one of the founders of the Ukrainian Central Rada, was a member of its Presidium as a clerk and chairman of the election commission. He took an active part in organizing the Ukrainian demonstration in March 1917. He was also a member of the All-Ukrainian National Congress and the member of the Ukrainian Social Democratic Labour Party. At the first general meeting of the Ukrainian Central Rada he was elected a member of the Committee of the Ukrainian Central Rada, and on the Fifth General Meeting - Deputy Chairman.
At meetings of the Ukrainian Central Rada S.F. Veselovsky spoke on various issues, namely economic policies of the Provisional Government in respect of Ukraine, the convening of the Congress of the enslaved peoples of Russia in Kyiv, firing regiment of B. Khmelnitsky, Ukrainian participation in the Democratic delegates meeting in St. Petersburg. The new composition of the General Secretariat (August 1917) S.F. Veselovsky was proposed to the post of general secretary of labor, but because of the mismatch of the matter with professional organizations and at the request of the candidate it has been removed from the ballot. In the times of the Ukrainian State Veselovsky was appointed Consul General in St. Petersburg.
In the summer of 1918, he returned to Kyiv, where he continued teaching job in particular he has lectured in courses of non-formal education, organized by the Ministry of Education. Since 1918, he worked as an extraordinary professor in the Department of Statistics of the Kyiv State University Ukrainian, and on April 2, 1919 he was appointed member of the presidium, the deputy chairman of the Academic Committee of Agriculture of Ukraine, head of the economic section and actually withdrew from political activity. From 1920 to 1921 Sergiy Feofanovich was rector of KPI. Since 1924, S.F. Veselovskii worked as a professor of the Kyiv Institute of Agriculture, where he headed the Department of Agricultural Economics. In the 1930s, was arrested and eventually emigrated.
