Okulov Petr Vladimirovich (1890-1956), Candidate of Technical Sciences, professor, founder and head of the Dept. of electrical measurements, electrical and lighting equipment (1926-1956). In 1913 he graduated Petersburg Polytechnic Institute. Starting from 1920 he, first concurrently, and from 1925 full time teacher of electrical measurements in Kiev Polytechnic Institute. In September 1926 he was elected the Head of the Dept. of electrical measurements, electrical and lighting equipment. He was working on this position together with heading the lighting equipment laboratory until his death. This laboratory was a starting point for academician of AS USSR B.M.Vul and corresponding member of AS UkSSR A.D.Nesterenko.
In 1929 P.V.Okulov was awarded the rank of professor, and in 1937 – without defense he was awarded the scientific rank of Candidate of Technical Sciences and confirmed in the rank of professor. From 1930 up to 1938 he worked as a Dean of electro technical Faculty and deputy Director of the Institute.
His scientific interests covered all research directions of the Department with certain accent on the methods of measuring magnetic properties of ferromagnetic materials and lighting equipment. The results of his research were used by Kiev film studio, Dnieper flotilla, “Lenin’s kuznia” plant and others. Returning from the evacuation he directed the Kiev cable plant reconstruction.
He was awarded the medal “For victorious Labor in the Great Patriotic War”, the order “Labor Red Banner” and Lenin’s order.
He published 56 scientific works, there are among them many handbooks and manuals for students. The main of them are: “Technology of electrotechnical materials” (1927, 1930), “Methods of electric and magnetic measurements”(1928), “High voltage cables” (1930), “Electrical measurements” (1939), “Electrical method of measurements of non-electrical values” (1945) and others.
