On February 4, 2019, Stepan Prokopovych Shevchuk, Head of the Department of Electromechanical Equipment of Energy Consuming Industries (EMOEV) of the Institute of Energy Conservation and Energy Management, celebrated his anniversary. He is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, awarded with the badge "Excellence in Education of Ukraine" (1996), a member of the Specialized Academic Council D.26.002.20 at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Secretary of the Expert Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on Minerals and Metallurgy.
Professor S.P. Shevchuk is the founder of scientific areas for technical diagnostics and reliability of electromechanical and mechatronic systems of energy consuming installations and complexes, pulse-wave processes, structures and technologies in the mining and oil industries. He founded the scientific direction of diagnosing hydrodynamic machines by thermodynamic method.
The creative output of the anniversary includes 270 publications, including 7 monographs, a course book and a textbook stamped by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, 37 inventions. He is the leader of a number of successful scientific fundamental and applied research, which have received consistently high professional feedback from experts.
In 1979 S.P.Shevchuk graduated from Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. He worked at the Institute of Automation. In time, he returned to Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, where he defended his candidate thesis in 1975, his PhD thesis in 1997. In 2002 he received the academic title of professor.
From 1989 to the present - Head of the Department of Electromechanical Equipment of Energy Consuming Industries, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Stepan Prokopovych stood at the origins of this department, he is its constant leader. During this time he managed to create a strong, friendly, productive team of like-minded people who take an active part in the development of the department, the creation and development of new promising scientific and educational areas, education of professional youth.
S. P. Shevchuk takes an active part in the scientific life of the University, Institute of Energy Conservation and Energy Management and Department. He is a member of the Academic Councils of the University and the Institute of Energy Conservation and Energy Management. Stepan Prokopovych together with all employees of the department conducts successful work on professional orientation of young people who enter higher education institutions. According to the results of the admission plan for the specialization "Electromechanical and mechatronic systems of energy consuming industries" in 2016-2019, the department takes first place in Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in the category of "junior specialist".
Stepan Prokopovych is known to all of us as an extraordinary person, he is an extremely calm, polite, tolerant and intelligent person. Always ready to come to the rescue, listen, advise, and most importantly - to act if necessary.
