Actively developing, the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute became the base of broadening and strengthening the network of universities in Kyiv and Ukraine. Thus, in 1923-1933 and in recent years on the basis of faculties and separate specialties of the KPI, several institutes, universities and academies were established.
Dnepropetrovsk Institute of the Railway Transport
March 23, 1930 - on the basis of polytechnic and the Faculty of the Railway Engineers in Kiev Polytechnic Institute, Dnepropetrovsk Institute of the Railway Engineers was founded in Dnepropetrovsk. Today it is Dnepropetrovsk National University of Railway Transport named after Academician V. Lazaryan.

Kyiv Institute of Civil Engineering.
Was established in 1930 on the base of the factory and public works of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute and Faculty of Architecture of the Kyiv Art Institute. Today it is the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.
Kyiv Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers.
The origins of the university were in aviation courses organized by Kyiv Polytechnic in the late XIX century, as an independent story began in 1933: The Council of People's Commissars of the USSR on the basis of the aviation department of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute the Kyiv Aviation Institute was established. Today it is the National Aviation University.
Ukrainian Agricultural Academy.
The current National Agrarian University is the leading institution of higher agricultural education in Ukraine. It originates from the agricultural department of the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, which in 1918 was transformed into agricultural (Agronomy) Faculty. On the basis of this faculty in 1922 in KPI was established the Kyiv Agricultural Institute, which in 1923 became an independent institution of higher education. In 1930-34 at the Kyiv Agricultural Institute formed and started its operations Kyiv Agronomic Institute, Kyiv Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture, Institute of Kyiv agro engineering sugar industry and Agro Economical Institute, which was later reorganized into independent research institutes and faculties.
Kyiv Motor Transport Institute.
Accordingly to Resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR № 11.06-p on November 7, 1944 was based the Kyiv Automobile and Highway Institute (Kyiv Automobile and Highway) - the present National Transport University (NTU).
Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry.
October 1, 1930 - the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute of tanning industry was established, which in 1935 was renamed the Kyiv Institute for leather and footwear industry, and in 1939 the Kyiv Institute of Leather Technology and Footwear Industry. May 20, 1944 - the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR merged it with the Textile Institute. The new school was named - Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry. Today it is the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
Vinnitsa Polytechnic Institute.
In 1960 in Vinnitsa was created the Common Technical Department of the Institute of Food Industry, which became part of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (KPI) a year later and on the basis of which was created Vinnytsa Branch of the KPI. On its basis in 1974 was established the Vinnitsa Polytechnic Institute - the seventh in Ukraine in this group of universities. Now it is Vinnytsa National Technical University.
Cherkassy Engineering Institute of Technology.
September 1, 1991 - the Cherkassy branch of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute became an independent institution of higher education. Now it is Cherkasy State Technological University.

The activity of the Chernihiv State Technological University began in 1960 with the general technical faculty of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute (Ministry VSSO USSR from 11 March 1960). Now it is Chernihiv State Technological University.
