Larysa Hloba is a professor at the Department of Information Technologies in Telecommunications of the Educational and Research Institute of Telecommunication Systems, Doctor of Technical Sciences.
Her professional biography began at the Kyiv Aviation Plant in 1978, and in 1981 she began to pave her own way in science at Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Here, in 1984, Larysa Sergiivna received a PhD in engineering, in 1996 she defended her doctoral thesis, and in 2001 she became a professor. She was the Head of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Networks of ITS in 2002-2023.
Larysa Serhiivna's research interests are in line with the latest global research and are also shaped by the needs of the economy. Her areas of interest include:
- Telecommunication systems and networks: she and her students study the architecture, protocols and methods of building modern telecommunication networks, including mobile and wireless technologies, as well as next-generation networks (5G and 6G);
- Internet of Things (IoT): In this area, Larysa deals with the integration of intelligent systems and devices, the interaction between them and their application in various fields, such as smart cities, industry, etc;
- cybersecurity: together with a doctoral student, she conducts research in the field of data security in telecommunications systems, including methods of protecting against cyberattacks and increasing the resilience of networks to threats;
- cloud computing: one of her areas of expertise is researching the architecture of cloud services and computing, as well as their effective implementation in various industries.
Her developments were actively implemented at Ukrainian enterprises and used to create data banks, for example, for the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Ukraine after the Chernobyl disaster, for the National Antarctic Research Centre and others.
For young scientists, Larysa Serhiivna is not only a mentor but also an inexhaustible source of inspiration. At the same time, she notes that communication with young people also stimulates them to make new discoveries. Under her supervision, more than 15 PhD and 3 doctoral theses were defended. And her own scientific achievements have been repeatedly recognised among the best at the university.
In recent years, Larysa Sergiivna's work has been associated with international activities: she has co-organised several world-class international scientific and practical conferences, such as IEEE BlackSeaCom, IEEE UkrMiCo, etc. The result of Larysa's close cooperation with the world-famous scientific publishing house Springer is a series of monographs ‘Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems’.
Larysa is always on the move and finds time for various hobbies: she is a yoga and fitness enthusiast, loves dancing, books, cinema and theatre. She is also a mother and grandmother...
We wish Larysa Serhiivna health, inspiration and further scientific success!
